“Best pancakes outside Japan..!”

If you are the type of person that is always looking for something different than the norm where ever you are... Then this is a great place to check out..!

As having been to Japan before, I can say that these are the best red bean pancakes that I have had outside Japan... If you are not familiar with these then here goes it... Try to imagine something about the size of a small tuna can... Pancake on the outside and red bean on the inside... Most things red bean are just too sweet but these pancakes are not... They are just perfect..!

They also have sushi hand rolls in a few varieties and green tea... If you choose you can get both of these with the above pancake... This is known as their tea set and at a very good price..!

Hometown Tea House is set up as a take out place but if you are a family or have a group of 4+ and order "Tea Sets" they will set up a table and chairs for you out front.

If you are coming from the direction of the ferry pier on Tung Wan Road, walk past Cheung Chau B&B... Then take your 1st left... It is just around the corner but not on the main road... You will see it once you turn left..!

I had an excellent conversation with the owner Takahiko-san... She is from Japan and is also a Japanese language teacher... The lady who normally works the ordering window is one of her students from 16 years ago... It is always good and makes the experience more interesting when owners and other staff take the time to speak with their customers... I will definitely be back for another visit and conversation the next time I am in Cheung Chau..!

We saw this mentioned in Lonly Planet but did not know what we were letting ourselves in for. The food is served through was looks like the kitchen window. When we arrived there were no tables outside (on the pavement) but the owner found us a table, set it up and really looked after us. The menu is limited but is good street food and lunch includes green tea in the price. Must be visited when on Cheung Chau, its just up from the ferry dock.
