Firstly, the biggest attraction of this hotel is the location. What a convenient location! This hotel has 2 entrances, one facing Tung Fong St and the other Waterloo Street. The one facing Tung Fong street is like 2 minutes walk to the Yau Ma Tei MTR station - Exit A2. Wonderful for getting around. Just one street away is Nathan Road, the artery of Kowloon. Due to its location, the hotel is quiet as not facing the happening Nathan Road but still close enough for everything. You can also walk to the Ladies Market which is like a 5 minute walk. Plenty to eat there.
No 2, the hotel is assessible by the airport bus, i.e. take A21 from the airport directly to the hotel only at HKD33.00 per pax. Just get off at Stop no.9. For the return leg, you can also take the same bus back to the airport. Need to check exact location of the stop but I think it is at Pitt Street which is walking distance.
Not very prominent from the outside and can actually look a bit dodgy but once you get inside, it is a welcoming sight and smell. Yes, the hotel has a lovely fragrance when you walk in. Very refreshing. Check in was quick and courteous. We were upgraded to the Premier rooms (although I was unaware at that point) so was very pleasantly surprised by the size of the room. 24 sqm I think which was spacious for HK standard. Only grumble was that they don't have a double bed for us as they were full. But it was quickly sorted out by housekeeping who came and joined the beds together, all done in 2-3 mins. Great service!!
Room besides large has all the necessary amenities, coffee & tea making facilities, a fridge, a safe, bedroom slippers, hair dryer and toilet accessories, Room was a bit jaded but clean. Beds are comfortable (dunno what the complaint of hard beds was about!) with very comfy duvet and 2 pillows. Sheets are super white and fresh and so are the towels.
Breakfast was not included in my booking but can be enjoyed at special rates of HKD118 for hotel guests. Not too much as food in HK is generally expensive.
Good eats around the hotel:
A tip, if you are on a budget or would like to try HK's local food, just exit the hotel from the Tung Fong street, you will see a restaurant called Eastern Kitchen. Tried their breakfast one day (they serve dim sum) passable but have eaten better. They also serve lunch & dinner with dishes & rice.
Next is a winner, use the same road, and walk towards the 7-11 store. Around the corner you will see the Exit A2 of the YMT MTR station. After 7-11 you will see a simple dim sum joint called Delicious Dim Sum or something like that. They do take aways and are reasonably priced. Next to this shop is K-Circle which is like a 7-11. Just after K-Circle, you will see 2 "char chan teng", the HK style "kopitiam" which you can find everywhere. You can't miss it as they sell curry fish balls by the tub or stick outside the shop. Try their breakfast there. Cheap and awesome!! The chee cheong fun with peanut/sweet sauce was great, only HKD11 per plate...We also tried their wantan (just wantan) and it was great too!! No fuss shop and you need to share tables and have limited movement place (normal in HK). The porridge was yummy too with yaw char kway!! You can order sets to try everything. Tell them you don't know chinese and they will give you a menu with photos of the sets you can order! Brilliant idea!
All in all very happy with this hotel and the services provided. At the rate I got for this hotel, I must say I give it a Thumbs up!!
