“Rare find in HK!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2014

Firstly, the biggest attraction of this hotel is the location. What a convenient location! This hotel has 2 entrances, one facing Tung Fong St and the other Waterloo Street. The one facing Tung Fong street is like 2 minutes walk to the Yau Ma Tei MTR station - Exit A2. Wonderful for getting around. Just one street away is Nathan Road, the artery of Kowloon. Due to its location, the hotel is quiet as not facing the happening Nathan Road but still close enough for everything. You can also walk to the Ladies Market which is like a 5 minute walk. Plenty to eat there.

No 2, the hotel is assessible by the airport bus, i.e. take A21 from the airport directly to the hotel only at HKD33.00 per pax. Just get off at Stop no.9. For the return leg, you can also take the same bus back to the airport. Need to check exact location of the stop but I think it is at Pitt Street which is walking distance.

Hotel itself:
Not very prominent from the outside and can actually look a bit dodgy but once you get inside, it is a welcoming sight and smell. Yes, the hotel has a lovely fragrance when you walk in. Very refreshing. Check in was quick and courteous. We were upgraded to the Premier rooms (although I was unaware at that point) so was very pleasantly surprised by the size of the room. 24 sqm I think which was spacious for HK standard. Only grumble was that they don't have a double bed for us as they were full. But it was quickly sorted out by housekeeping who came and joined the beds together, all done in 2-3 mins. Great service!!

Room besides large has all the necessary amenities, coffee & tea making facilities, a fridge, a safe, bedroom slippers, hair dryer and toilet accessories, Room was a bit jaded but clean. Beds are comfortable (dunno what the complaint of hard beds was about!) with very comfy duvet and 2 pillows. Sheets are super white and fresh and so are the towels.

Breakfast was not included in my booking but can be enjoyed at special rates of HKD118 for hotel guests. Not too much as food in HK is generally expensive.

Good eats around the hotel:
A tip, if you are on a budget or would like to try HK's local food, just exit the hotel from the Tung Fong street, you will see a restaurant called Eastern Kitchen. Tried their breakfast one day (they serve dim sum) passable but have eaten better. They also serve lunch & dinner with dishes & rice.

Next is a winner, use the same road, and walk towards the 7-11 store. Around the corner you will see the Exit A2 of the YMT MTR station. After 7-11 you will see a simple dim sum joint called Delicious Dim Sum or something like that. They do take aways and are reasonably priced. Next to this shop is K-Circle which is like a 7-11. Just after K-Circle, you will see 2 "char chan teng", the HK style "kopitiam" which you can find everywhere. You can't miss it as they sell curry fish balls by the tub or stick outside the shop. Try their breakfast there. Cheap and awesome!! The chee cheong fun with peanut/sweet sauce was great, only HKD11 per plate...We also tried their wantan (just wantan) and it was great too!! No fuss shop and you need to share tables and have limited movement place (normal in HK). The porridge was yummy too with yaw char kway!! You can order sets to try everything. Tell them you don't know chinese and they will give you a menu with photos of the sets you can order! Brilliant idea!

All in all very happy with this hotel and the services provided. At the rate I got for this hotel, I must say I give it a Thumbs up!!

Room Tip: I believe the rooms on higher floors are better?

Firstly our room was upgraded to a better room which was rather nice and a plus. The room itself is not very big although the triangle shape helped give the illusion of a bit more space. The view was reasonable. The design of the room was simple yet well designed such as the cupboard. The bed was nice and comfortable and we found the room to be very clean which is always a plus.

The bathroom was a very decent size and quite spacious. The water pressure should be addressed as it was sporadic and a little irritating. We would also have liked to have seen a shower gown either in the room or the bathroom.

Just a note on the breakfast, it is at extra charge at 118 HKD a head.

I found the staff to be a mixed bag. One employee was very friendly and helpful, offering advice as where to eat and so on. On request some items were brought up to the room in a very speedy fashion. I found Edwin at the front desk to be not particularly friendly, a little robotic. I did not feel overly welcomed. Upon checking out we found that there was an error in how many nights we were staying but was resolved with very little hassle by a different employee at the check out counter.

Overall I felt the staff could have been a bit more friendlier and welcoming. This is the reason for three and not four stars.

Great location! This is certainly a huge plus. You can access both the green and red line close by.

Room Tip: Most rooms are smallish as it is Hong Kong but some have better furbishing.

We stayed for 7 nights on floor 23 which was very quiet and had a lovely view of mountains and could see the sea at the side.

It is clean and the staff are all very pleasant and professional. Miss Lisa So on the front desk is especially helpful.

The Cityview is in a gem of an location, being close to Yau Ma Tei MTR and a very short walk to the night markets. There are literally hundreds of convenience stalls, eateries and shops surrounding the hotel.

I would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: We had room 2390, which was very light and quiet.

The hotel rooms are very small and the bed is hard. Fortunately, the hotel staff permitted a complimentary upgrade to a bigger room (I think it is premier room) at the same rate so that we can accommodate a young child with parents during this stay. The bed is hard and only 2 single or 1 queen bed options are available. Location is alright, close to amenities and subway but not cheap as compared with other hotels that offer better room and bathroom in Hong Kong.

Room Tip: Ask for 2 single beds combined if you are travelling with a young child and not adding extra bed. Al...

Hotel is well located just next to MTR station. Hotel is in very good condition, both public areas and rooms. We had superior room and there was enough space for two adults and two children. Room is pretty quiet, not too much noise from the street. Restaurant has good breakfast and a la carte although it is a bit pricey if compared eateries just outside of the hotel.

Cityview is less than 2 mins walk away from the nearest MTR station, Yau Ma Tei. For those who would like to just shop around the area, it is located just in the middle of Nathan Road, which is convenient to walk to both Kowloon and Tsim Sha Tsui, Temple Street and Ladies Street. Not to mention there is a free shuttle bus - K5 that guests can choose to take from Airport Express Kowloon Station. The shuttle is both ways. Only thing about this bus is, no one helps you carry your luggage up and down the bus so may pose problems if your luggage is heavy.

The staff at the conceirge was very helpful as my friend and I were looking for shops that sells roast pigeon and the staff helped us googled and even helped us call the shop to confirm the availability.

Room was really basic considered we were already given a free upgrade to premium room due to overbooking. Clean though.

Very handy from subway and to all shopping on Nathan Street. Room very clean and we were upgrade to a suite, very spacious. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Had breakfast in hotel which was a buffet and found the choices very good. Chefs on staff answered all questions and offered samplers of the custom Asian choices. All in all I will stay here again and actually have booked 2 nights on our return journey.

Room Tip: We were on 17th floor and had a view of the city hi rises. Not sure if their are better views. Our r...
