“Excellent with relatively large rooms”

I travelled with 3 young children. Booked 2 rooms and requested for a connecting room which was assigned to me swiftly. Hotel staff were polite and helpful. Location is superb. Tshim sha tsui mrt is 150m away across the road to Kowloon park. There is a huge shopping mall - harbour city situated within the hotel. Shopping is a luxury in harbour city. If you are looking for cheap and good finds, try to cross the road and head to lock road for local bargains. Would definitely come back again to stay in this hotel.

I have been staying at this hotel, every time I go to Hong Kong, even when I was much, much younger and unmarried and yet the rooms have looked exactly the same, even though we now stay on the Club floors. The best thing about this hotel is the location, being in the heart of the shopping centers of the the Gateway Arcades, Ocean Terminal and Ocean Center. All the brand name items and best restaurants are only a stone's throw away from this hotel. The staff and service, especially on the club floor are excellent and friendly. The hotel is undergoing a major renovation, though and the lobby is only a fraction of the size of what it used to be. As of now, there are floors and rooms that are being renovated and by next year most, if not all the rooms will finally have a much needed makeover. I am looking forward to that. In the meantime, deal with old carpeting and old style bathrooms.

Room Tip: Ask for the newly refurbished rooms

We chose that hotel for the only reason - located above one of the largest shopping malls in Hong Kong. The place is relatively overpriced. However, in the end, if your objective if Christmas shopping, then it's a good choice, particularly if you are with kids.

We had 3 kids aged 9, 6 and 3. We stayed in one premium room with two twin beds. Hotel placed a cot for our little one, which was really nice. The room was rather spacious to our previous experiences in Hong Kong.

We haven't tried their canteen as we opted to food in the mall, which we don't regret.

The only caveat is that you have to walk through the mall (short distance) to get to the hotel. Our taxi driver dropped us at the wrong entrance, which caused a bit of trouble. But it was fine on way back.

I stayed here for 3 nights at 10th floor. Room was bit old but it came with free wifi, free newspaper on the weekend, free fruits everyday. The front office and concierge staff were all really helpful. The hotel is located within the shopping center and Canton Road is literary a shopping heaven. There are three Marco Polo hotels, Gateway is in the middle. You can walk to both Star Ferry Pier and HK China Ferry Terminal from the hotel. The hotel also provides free shuttle bus from Kowloon train station (i.e. K2 bus - blue colour), it departs every 12 minutes from hotel to train station and vice versa. Overall, I will recommend this hotel to travelers who like to go shopping in HK.

Stayed 3 nights at the Club floor, with 3 kids. Nice location for shopping. Good, comfortable rooms. Club floor is pricier than normal rooms but has better interiors and has own lounge/cafe where you have your buffet breakfast (included in the room), and where you can have you tea/coffee and snacks during the day. Most of the guests in the Club floor are business travellers or older couples, and during our stay, we were the only ones with small children in tow.

We stayed here back in June 2012. I have stayed in this property a couple of times before, but this was the first time that I noticed that the hotel is in need of an update of its rooms. The rooms, although large, look noticeably darker with its old style carpets and lighting. The bathrooms also need a restoration of its tile work.

we have always tried to stay here when we visit HK and only now im reviewing the hotel. maybe i dont want other people what a little gem this hotel really is. most of our visit is with my family. the hotel is right in the middle of harbour city, this means little ones can roam freely in harbour city without the risk of being run down by vehicles.theres Fitness First in the complex, the rooms and toilets are big, pillows and bedsheets are tops. excellent restaurants are nearby whether chinese, western etc.
now my complaints. wifi is not free and very expensive, some rooms still has the old tube TV of 15 yrs ago althought all rooms are being remodeled now. the front of the hotel has no wheelchair access.

Room Tip: rooms 12th flr and above are quieter.
