“We usually stay here! Excellent Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2012

Gateway is a good location. Everything is within the area. Food, shopping. No need to go elsewhere if you are hiding from the heat or rain.

We stayed at the club floor. It is convenient there with a friendly staff. Breakfast, Tea time and cocktails are served so its a good way to relax after the shopping and sightseeing.

They also have a new restaurant / bar at the 3rd Floor called Three on Canton. Its new, cool and cozy.

Room amenities are complete, clean rooms, nice pillows and bed. They are due for renovation so I am sure once it is all done, it would be a totally new experience once more.

We stayed in the Gateway last Aug 1 -5, 2012. We booked this hotel through a Travel Agency and i think it was a bit pricey considering it didn't come with breakfast. The Check-in and Out was pretty fast. They also kept our luggage after we checked out since our flight was at night. Here's basically my Pros and Cons for this hotel.
PROS:
1. GREAT LOCATION. MTR, Ferry to Hong Kong Central and Macau are about 5 - 10mins. walk. Malls, shopping and restaurants can be found everywhere! Avenue of Stars is around 15mins walk. This place is in Tsim Tsa Tsui so everything you need is well within walking distance.
2. The Room is really clean and spacious with a big Sony Bravia TV. The beds and pillows were soft to provide you with a very good night's sleep. The bathroom is also spacious and complete with everything you need. Complimentary Water Bottles are provided everyday, you can even request room service for more.
3. Bus Shuttle Service - This free shuttle bus services takes you from the hotel to the KOWLOON Station where you can take the MTR Airport Express straight to the Airport in 30mins. Its very convenient and idiot proof, impossible to get lost. You also use the same way getting from the Airport to the Hotel.
CONS:
1. For the price we paid, I expected breakfast to be included. Sadly it didn't come with it.
2. A bit pricey. I think we paid 200 USD a night.
3. There are renovations going on now but they do it during the afternoons where you should be out exploring Hong Kong. So this didn't bother us that much but I think the other reviewers were bothered.

It was a good stay. Very convenient location and access. Rooms were above average. Though, I think it is a bit pricey since it didn't come with breakfast. The breakfast would have made it 4 DOTS for me.

This hotel is rated as 4 star. I wouldn't give it 2 at the moment. Renovations (which are badly needed) are happening right now. Jackhammering all day, right next to your room. No power points in convenient places. Had to boil the jug (after I asked for one that worked) on the floor. Dried my hair on the floor too. The fridge froze everything we put in it. Only 1 bedside table. Bed was like a brick. Shower leaked all over the floor, and bathroom is moldy. Only saving grace were the staff. Very poor value for money at the moment.

Room Tip: Our 10th floor room overlooked Canton Street. Very noisy at night.

I’ve stayed here many times for 3 to 5 days at a time. It’s nice when I have to stay over the weekend, because there is a lot to do in the area (inside and outside). The hotel doesn’t have its own gym, which is ok because we get access to the Anytime (??) gym in the mall – this is a good gym that overlooks the harbor (they keep the temperature at a reasonable level). Can’t say much about the service there, but the equipment is decent and the staff leaves you alone. No pool. The rooms at the Gateway are a little tired, but ok. Bed is comfortable. The only real complaint I have is that the WiFi is weak and fairly slow in virtually every room I have stayed. I will continue staying here.

Room Tip: If you want to save a few dollars food, the food court in the mall is better than most or the City S...

Our family always stay here when in HK because of the location, the big comfortable beds and the bufffet breakfast. It's within the Ocean Center, close to the star ferry terminal, bus terminus, MTR and Nathan Road. We feel comfortable and safe here, cause this place feels like home.

The location of this hotel is its best feature. Right by the mall, near the Star Ferry, and near Nathan Road, and in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui. Good shops and restaurants nearby. Only drawback is the distance to the nearest MTR But this is not the only thing I like about this hotel. I was very impressed with the staff, especially in the front desk, who were very accomodating and friendly. Everyone with a smile and willing to accomodate us.On check-in, they even upgraded my wife and I to the club floor with access to the lounge without us asking. The room is a bit small but comfortable. Although we were facing the street, I could not hear any noise and had a good night's sleep. The hotel has been around for some time and I found it quite funny when they handed me an actual key to our room. Haven't been to a hotel with a physical key for a long time now!

I enjoyed my stay here and will definitely come back.
