“Authentic Superb Chinese Food that is Value for Money”

We read many reviews of where to eat for seafood with many to choose from , one thinks they all can't be as good as the reviewer writes. Therefore, we looked at other reviews locally on maps produced by the Hotels and throughout them all they all still mentioned The Red Pepper Restaurant, 7 Lan Fong Road, Causeway Bay.

Therefore, we went along and as the different books and maps of restaurants explained it was where it is and easy to find with a superb menu. The menu explains big or small dishes, therefore, we went for 4 small dishes and what we got were 4 superbly exquisite meals and we ordered a bottle of decent wine which was very reasonably priced to wash the outstanding food down. We ordered 'small servings' of: prawn dish, a squid dish, a scallop dish and a HK sweet and sour pork dish with boiled rice.

Also because they were small on the menu I tried to order a veg dish but the waiter suggested no we had enough. However, as they were on the menu as small dishes I questioned the waiter but he said no. Wow were we glad because out came from the kitchen 4 meals that would have been adequate for eight people. The service was second to none; the owner Jimmy, Danny Choy the waiter and the other two waiters (sadly their names escapes me) were all excellent.

The HK Tourist Board states their are a number of sites that must be visited in HK, namely Peak Tram, Star Ferries well they really need to The Red Pepper Restaurant because the food is the best in China.

“Always A Treat!”

Have been to Red Pepper over 20 times and it never disappoints. Whether for lunch or dinner we always have a first class meal and terrific service. The minced pork green beans and cashew chicken are our favorites, but the sizzling prawns, beef with black bean sauce are always part of the order.

If you go once you'll want to go back again and again. I know we have!

“Wow food”

Its a lovely chinese decorated restaurant which offers sichuan spicy food . The food os delicious and the accompanying hoise tea has a lovely mild rose flavor.
The chiili prawns and chicken dishes are to die for.

“An old standby and still very good”

We started eating here in the 80's and are still going back for Kung Pao chicken, shredded beef in sesame pockets, Szechuan green onion cakes, all the good stuff. A little pricey, but not bad. You'll like it.

“Expensive but well worth a visit”

The Chilli Prawns are the plumpest sweetest prawns in town and the dish is an exciting one. We also had duck, bamboo shoots with pork and vegetables. The wine was reasonably priced - the food was expensive but good quality. The service very professional without exactly being friendly. The only disappointment is that nasty habit of supplying little extras that come at a price without making it clear - peanuts and kimchi appears on the table in little bowls as if it is complimentary but it also appears on the bill. Still the very experienced bow-tied waiters and the quality of the food make this Euro-Chinese institution well worth a visit.
