For those of you whom have heard of Benihana, Wa San Mai is the upscale version of that. In fact, it may not even be fairly compared given the extreme difference in quality and service. Instead of your chef focusing on making you onion volcanoes and juggling shrimp around the teppanyaki table, Wa San Mai focuses on high quality and fresh ingredients. The food served here was still "alive" when brought to your table and it doesn't get fresher than that. We ordered the "Abalone set" (about USD$170) everything served was phenomenal and highly recommended.

I was invited by my friend in this wonderful Japanese restaurant. The food was amazing good and super fresh. If you want to eat super good Japanese food, this is absolutely a great place to go.

When I meet up with friends or give family a treat, Wa San Mai has been an easy choice. It has both open table area and cubicles where one can pay a cost to close the doors.

This could be my eighth time here in the last four or five years. We chose from the set meals which were fresh, tasty and well presented on individual trays. I had the sashimi set, which was light and sufficient at this Winter Solstice lunchtime as dinner followed on the day, traditionally, would always a feast.

Both tea and coffee were of quality. Tea was replenished throughout the meal and coffee was served with a small green tea dessert. I found its black coffee without sugar delicious.

This time we spent over three hours there and will be back there from time to time as the food and service are well above average and consistently good.

We came here again for dinner and the food and service is as good as always. Our chef, ah Kin, was taking care of us so well that we always feel welcome here.

The abalone was the best and you must order it if you come! Looking forward to our next meal here again already ..

Celebrated my mom's birthday here and we had teppanyaki this time. Set lunch menu was quite good and price very reasonable for such quality and environment. US beef already quite good and no need to go for Kobe beef unless you want a special treat for yourself. Highly recommend this restaurant. For HSBC and Sogo credit card owners, 10% discount is being offered.
