The service was excellent here. Our room wasn't ready on time at check in, but the staff escorted us to the lobby bar and took care of us while we waited. The rooms are clean, contemporary, and the harbour view is excellent, The whatever, whenever policy at W is fantastic. We had drinks delivered to our room at 5 am without issue (jet lagged). Highly recommend this hotel if staying on Hong Kong. Next to the Ritz Carlton too which as a great rooftop bar.

Hello keithnewhook, thanks for your wonderful review and recommendation. My apologies that your room was not ready when you arrived – whether it was before or after the official 3:00pm check-in time (and I certainly hope it was not after) I am pleased it was well handled by the team. I’m thrilled to know you had a fabulous time while staying with us. Best wishes, Peter Hildebrand, General Manager

We stayed here only for one night and really liked the hotel service and location.

- The hotel is by the harbor in Kowloon and connected to a mall (almost sits on top of the mall)

- Besides the hotel, the mall has several excellent dining options – it is an upscale mall with really good options that seemed popular with locals

- The Kowloon station is in the mall from where express trains run to the airport. Most airlines have a check-in counter at the station where you can check-in and drop your bags upto 24 hours in advance. This was super convenient. The train from the station to airport took about 20 minutes

- The hotel will send its staff to the train station to help with luggage if you call them once you are on the train. At departure, they are happy to help with your luggage to the check-in counters.

- We had arranged for a limo pick-up with the hotel. On arrival, we were taken straight to our room where they completed check-in (it was seamless)

- The breakfast (big high quality buffet) was easily the best (by far) for any W we have stayed at (NY, Miami, Dallas, Seattle, San Francisco, Hollywood, Minneapolis, London etc) and among the best for any hotel

- Service throughout was excellent
- On the down side, the lounge/bar area was not as nice as many other W hotels

The hotel is very conveniently located right on top of the Kowloon stop from the Airport Express, so it was really easy coming and going from/to the Airport. Next to the Hotel is a huge mall.

The rooms are very beautiful and I had a stunning view over the harbor. The breakfast is very good as well with lots of options. I also had dinner one night in the Kitchen Restaurant which was OK. The Chinese restaurant however was absolutely amazing. The bar is nice as well although a bit to loud for my liking.

Overall I had a great stay here and will definitely stay here again when in Hong Kong

W HK is always my first choice when travelling to HK, the quality of services, hard wares in the room and the food is always fantastic. And as a Platinum member, most likely you will be upgraded and makes your stay even more comfortable.

The staff were super friendly and had all the connections to the hottest clubs and restaurants.

The boutique like decor was fanciful and excellent. The room, a bit small, but still excellent to sleep in. This was a combined business-holiday trip.

Loved the fact that W was connected to the mall and train to the Hong Kong Int'l airport; making easy to get to and from.

I visit Hong Kong about 6-7 times a year, usually a couple days at a time on business or in connection with a business trip. I always stay at the W, so this time taking my wife and 2.5 year old son for a 10 day vacation the hotel choice was obvious. I am a big fan of the W brand and stay a fair number of nights any given year at various Ws.

The hotel is located literally on top of Kowloon station so getting to/from the airport with Airport Express could not be easier, including in-town check-in on the day of departure. The same complex houses also Elements mall and the ICC and Ozone bar. Elements is an upscale to luxury mall with a number of reasonably priced restaurants.

The Tung Chung (orange) MTR line stops in the building and there are always plenty of taxis available at the entrance to the W. Taxis in Hong Kong are a cheap, fast and efficient mode of transportation, especially since the W is practically at the mouth of the Western harbour tunnel. Crossing under to HK Island side takes mere minutes.

We arrived at the hotel early on a Friday, the day after my wife's birthday. I had let the hotel know in advance that we'd be celebrating over the weekend. The welcome was absolutely fantastic - it seemed that every member of the staff knew of the occasion and congratulated her. She received small special treats with personalized congratulations at the breakfast and delivered to the room over the first days.

We received a really nice upgrade to a Marvelous suite, a one-bedroom suite which is apparently larger that an average Hong Kong apartment! The suite was in very good condition as it should as the hotel is about 6 years old. The hotel had already delivered a crib and loaner baby stroller in the room - turns out that we had very little use for the stroller but a very nice gesture anyways. It was a foldable Maclaren Quest that takes about 3 seconds to fold/unfold into a taxi. Additional child-friendly details they had taken care of without asking for: Some table corners are somewhat sharp so they had attached silicone corner protectors on every such corner. Bathroom amenities included a kids toothbrush & paste and washing lotion & baby oil. Nice little accent to complete the feeling of being cared for!

The suite has a very high tech feel - to the point that it may take a minute to figure out how the lighting schemes and TV/entertainment systems work. Once that is clear they are in fact super convenient to use, though I never really bothered to learn to use the desk phone. After all I only need to dial 0 on the cordless phone to reach Whatever/Whenever service that will take care of every need.
The sheer and blackout curtains are motor-operated.

Additional recently launched niceties we saw in the suite:
- the "Handy": an Alcatel-Lucent Idol X smartphone with free local calls & unlimited data to take with you when exploring the city. Some pre-loaded applications to help you get around. This was very useful and saves a lot of trouble gettting a local pre-loaded SIM and swapping that in and out.
- free Press Reader access from the hotel wifi - couple thousand newspapers around the world in electronic format
- Tara Stiles (yoga without the Sanskrit) quick tip cards to get you going, also available a channel on the hotel TV

The views from the rooms may be somewhat limited due to ICC and some high-rise residential buildings but with luck there are reasonable harbour or city views. We had quite nice harbour/sea views towards Lantau and sunset and on the other side towards Admiralty. Victoria Harbour is an extremely busy port, about 1000 vessels operate there daily and many of those are hauling containers or shuttling passengers.

The breakfast buffet in Kitchen restaurant is very nice. It has an extensive selection of local and western favourites and chef's creations. Good selection of fresh fruit, juices and yogurts. The sweet selection is to my tastes a bit too extensive - but my wife and especially our son loved the 'holiday options'. Including gummy bears and worms!
On a Sunday one might want to skip the breakfast and opt for the seafood brunch with free-flowing quality champagne to down the oysters! The brunch would well deserve a TripAdvisor entry of its own - it is extensive and very high quality and we had great fun for hours with our friends.

The pool (Wet) on 76th floor was a favourite on this trip. The views are great - though limited by ICC again. The area is designed for adults but there were every day a number of families with kids. Main pool is a 1.4 m deep infinity pool and there is a smaller 0.9 m deep hot jacuzzi. The bar serves pretty good drinks and food either to the lounge chairs or a seating area - the Wet Deck.
This pool area also hosts a number of summer pool parties with good DJs on Saturdays. We had some friends come over for extended birthday party for my wife and booked table service including a couple bottles of champagne and vodka. The party continues down at the Woobar after midnight.
The hotel hosts a number parties with high profile DJs either at the ballroom or smaller events at the Woobar. These events usually get extremely busy so be advised if not participating!!

The Woobar is next to the reception serving well made drinks, though a word of warning: It may take a while to get your drink so don't try to rush through this bar. I'm not really sure why the delivery is somewhat slow - the waitresses are promptly there to take your order and the bartenders seem to be working normally. The bar gets somewhat locals during afternoon hours.

There is a gym (Sweat) and a Bliss Spa on the 73rd floor. The gym is a bit small but is complete with aerobic exercise equipment and the usual gear . If you are arriving too early to get your room good options are either to use the gym, it also has a very nice spa/sauna section with a great view from the jacuzzi or depending on the weather head to Wet Deck on 76th floor.

I really like this hotel and heartily recommend it! The best component is the staff, the team really tries to make you feel a valued guest. When something fails my expectations they have always tried to recover and fix the stay.

Let me start by saying that I'd never stayed in a W before, knew the brand only from having had drinks and lunch in a few W' hotels. I should have stuck with just their F&B offerings. The W is in one of the large towers of the ICC and sits above the Elements Shopping centre (acres of wall to wall marble corridors lined by empty shops of all the premium labels you've ever seen glossy ads for) and Kowloon MTR station (Airport Express airport check in desks).
However It is surrounded by a giant sea of construction works and busy urban motorways separating it from the rest of Kowloon, albeit it is an easy taxi or train to wherever in Hong Kong.

The room: standard size and therefore expensive at nearly US$1000 for 2 nights room only for one adult and two young children, plas another $30 for the internet - fail. The very hip bathroom setup kept flooding the bathroom with each shower - fail. It may be a pet hate, but I like my rooms very dark when sleeping, the curtains where good - but not blackout - and you need to pull your access card at the door to get some of the lights to shut off completely. - fail

The airconditioning in the room had a weird -burnt liftmotor/shaft- kind off smell to it. - fail.

The staff were nice and obliging but were sometimes hard to understand, I guess it must be hard to get people to be fluent in three languages.

The pool is a nice feature so high up, and we had a great lunch at the Kitchen restaurant. After the first night I started to annoyed by the fake hipness of the decor and the whole concept. It is like a Disneyland for hipsters, wannabe hipsters and travelling middle management types wearing polo's shirts stonewashed jeans and white sportshoes who try to buy some hipness.

I guess I never noticed this fakeness on the previous brief W visits. Originality and being genuine is hard to do and W Hong Kong fails for me.

Hi walvisch, I am sorry to hear that you were left disappointed after your stay with us. It would be great if you can contact me via w.hk@whotels.com to share your name and contact details so we can trace the room you stayed in and resolve the unusual issues you highlight. Sincere apologies for these short comings, I can fully understand how this would have negatively affected your experience. Internet is chargeable in the majority of Starwood hotels globally, however, we have tried to enhance the guest experience by recently adding a complimentary Handy phone. These mobile phones are placed in all rooms for guest use inside or outside the hotel offering unlimited 3G internet access as well as unlimited local calls.
I appreciate the style of W is a little different to the norm and may not appeal to all. W is a lifestyle brand that aims at deliver more than just the usual hotel experience through our passion points of Fashion, Design and Music to create a leading destination in Hong Kong. As such the approaches we take to achieve this goal is very different from traditional hotels
