“Worst experience no one should deserve on a New Year evening”
Reviewed January 1, 2012

Alert !! Bad experience in SOHO - a restaurant called "Nepal" on 14 Stauton Street. They have a waitress who wouldn't let you sit where you want. We asked for a table farther away from the door as it is cold, and she gave us this grumpy look - oh common, it is New Year Day! Then we sat ourselves near the wall. Another waitress came and took our order. Then came a group of customers, a party of 6. That grumpy looking waitress came, and asked us to leave our table and move to near the door, again, because she wants to accomodate the big group of customers. What kind of service attitude was that? So, if you want good customer service, this is certainly NOT where you can get it, especially you want reasonable respect from a waitress.

“Frequently visited, never disappointed.”
Reviewed December 31, 2011

We've been several times, at lunchtime to this little restaurant on Staunton Street. We love the SoHo area and although small is often busy. We like the open kitchen where we can see the Nepalese chefs at work. My 9 year old daughter cites this as her favourite restaurant in Hong Kong - she does love spicy food though so it wouldn't be to every child's tastes. She particularly likes the BBQ fish in Nepalese spices. Staff are friendly, prompt and the food is reasonable value - given the location and especially the Set Lunch.

“Superb Lunch Offer”
Reviewed November 27, 2011

Just 1 minute walk from the Escalator on Staunton Rd a small restaurant but cosy, excellent 2 course lunch offers mid week as well as weekends, excellent value for money. Today I had pumpkin soup then excellent lamb main dish with naan and only HK$98 per person. Staff are pleasant.... If going at weekend or public holidays would recommend a reservation in advance...

“My favorite Hong Kong restaurant”
Reviewed November 24, 2011

My favorite restaurant in Hong Kong. Nepal offers some wonderful appetizers, especially the momocha (dumplings served steamed or deep-fried) and the aloo chop (potato pancake). The lamb and chicken dishes are excellent. We also liked the saagpat paneer (cottage cheese with spinach). I always order a big bottle of Nepalese beer. Waiters are friendly and efficient. It’s right off the street and good for people watching. But the place is small and can get a little cramped. Go early and grab a table before the crowd arrives.

“Market food at Soho Prices”
Reviewed November 15, 2011

I chose Nepal after reading rave reviews. I found it to be overall average. There are other Nepalese restaurants in Hong Kong with dishes that are equivalent in taste at half the price. At Nepal they pack you in like sardines and the service is very rushed and impersonal. It is also unacceptable to wait for half an hour on the street when a table has been booked. I will not complain about the food, it was tasty, but it is not the best Nepalese food that Hong Kong has to offer. Nepal is in a great location - but you are paying for it!
