Super friendly, cozy restaurant with a huge menu of great vegetarian dishes, classics as well as their own specialities. Don't be alarmed by the mentions of meat in the menu as one negative reviewer were, there's no actual meat on the menu as everything is strictly "mock". Vegans might do well to ask about dairy and egg content though.

“Excellent vegetarian food, near Haiphong Market”
Reviewed January 14, 2014

I found this restaurant by accident when looking for another vegetarian restaurant which doesn't seem to exist anymore. But this may have been my favorite find in Hong Kong! The staff are friendly and the food is really good.
We had eggplant and tofu skin in black pepper sauce in clay pot and it was delicious! I even went back and had it again on my last day in HKG. We also had Udon noodles in Japanese sauce and it was really tasty too. They do lots of mock meat, but it tastes nice. The other dish was good but not as delicious - it was tofu and mushrooms in a gravy with rice. They do set menu lunches which get really crowded, but no problem - they'll seat you at a table with others.
I highly recommend this place if you need a break from all the meat, or can't find somewhere to eat that doesn't have pork in everything!

“Never again!”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

We came at 11 in the morning and it was still closed. The host offered us tea and starter and we wait for half an hour until the cooker eat his breakfast. The menu contains fish, all kinds of meat, as a vegetarian I was really surprised. We took two dishes and soup - the taste leaves much to be desired. At the end we were surprised by additional charge for tea and starter.

“Worst experience ever”
Reviewed May 21, 2013 via mobile

Based on high ratings we were looking fwd to some delicious veg food. We asked the hostess to serve us three of their best dishes along with some pineapple rice. The three dishes were less than average and the pineapple rice was " rice in pineapple shell" with NO pineapple in it. To make matters worst there were TWO additional charges (for customary tea and a small starter) of $36. So for us this restaurant was a one time event.

“Our favourite restaurant in Hong Kong.”
Reviewed April 6, 2013

We found this place through TripAdvisor. You would never simply 'stumble across' this place, it's located on the second floor of a pretty anonymous looking building on Haiphong Road (close to Peking Road and Nathan Road and accesible from Tsim Sha Tsui MTR) and has very little outside advertising. Just look for the entrance to 32-34 (the numbers are clearly displayed). Go inside, turn right and take the elevator next to the reception desk. The restaurant is on the second floor. Perseverance was rewarded in this case, as this was our favourite of all the restaurants we visited in Hong Kong.

Firstly, this is a genuinely authentic Cantonese restaurant. Full of locals and very few tourists. If you want a real Hong Kong dining experience, this is your place. It's nothing to look at - very basic decor and simple furniture, but the food was absolutely amazing - so much so that we returned for a second visit. The menu is very extensive; I can personally recommend the Sweet and Sour "Pork" with Pineapple and the Fried "Duck" in Lemon sauce. Both were incredible.

On our first visit, we ordered far too much food and couldn't finish it. Two main dishes and two sides would seem to be too much here, especially if you are ordering noodles. This makes Cute Fei very good value for money - on our second visit we got change from $150HKD. Bargain.

More people should visit this place, vegetarian or not. You won't be disappointed!
