“Uninteresting array of shops and crowds”
Reviewed April 10, 2014

Went there on a hot and humid weekend afternoon in March. Between the dense crowds and the pungent smell of certain food like stinky toufu, it was bad! Although there were a few interesting shops, the vast majority were really uninteresting and repetitious to us. Most disappointing was there was no porcelain shops of any kind which really makes a mockery of the name of the place. Yes, we do understand there used to be workshops and distributors in the past and they used the river to ship the goods out. Still it would have been nice to retain some of those porcelain businesses. You can skip this place if you have better things to do.

“Great shops...watch out for umbrellas!”
Reviewed March 30, 2014 via mobile

This is a great spot to wander and see a bit of China, food and all. Loved the street food and snacks...there are a few spots that are super popular (based in the long line winding around the block) and definitely worth trying. There are also some fun shops with trendy western knick-knacks. It's definitely worth wandering around and seeing what you stumble upon. Warning: we went on a rainy day! If you are even remotely tall, umbrellas poking you in the eye is quite likely.

“One of the best tourist things in Chongqing”
Reviewed March 24, 2014

I live in Chongqing but took my family here when they visited. Ciqikou is one of my favourite tourist spots to visit in Chongqing. It's outside and can get pretty crowded, especially at weekends, but it's a nice change from the skyscrapers. Loads of cute shops where you can pick up jewellery and gifts, tourist tat and lots of Chongqing speciality food. Look out for the guy that does amazing multicoloured candyfloss shaped like flowers and the Indian roti stall that does great crepe/pancake type things. Also loads of tiny cafes and bars to chill out in. Really easy to get to on line 1 of the metro (ciqikou stop) and close to shapingba.
