Stayed just the one night and missed out on the free breakfast but everything else about this hotel was more than adequate considering the price 358RMB per room per night inc breakfast.
The room was small but clean. The beds comfy, plenty of tv channels, free internet access, a roomy bathroom and quiet. Locate away from the city centre so you will need taxi's, that can be quite hard to flag down, but otherwise ideal.

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Chongqing on a recent business trip and was very disappointed. My experience began poorly when I arrived to find two very friendly ladies at the check-in desk, one of whom spoke no English and the other who had very limited English. I travel frequently to many different countries, and always book US hotels because of the need for English-speaking staff. This is not only because I am an English speaker, but also because I also often rely on the hotel staff to help with task such as locating places within the city, or writing notes for cab drivers, etc. After checking in and going to my room on the 11th floor, I discovered that my key did not work. After three trips down to the lobby for new keys, we discovered that the door lock was not working. My room was small, but adequate, and clean, which is important. I noticed it was a bit warm, however I assumed it would cool off as I turned down the air. This was not the case, as it stayed very warm all night (24 degrees) despite me turning the A/C down to 19. Another important thing to me is WiFi, which was essentially unusable in my room. The only place I could get even a half-way decent signal was in the lobby, and even there it fluctuated wildly. After my night of too-warm sleep, I went down for the included breakfast, which consisted of stale bread for toasting in a toaster that did not work, or a handful of cooked food, non of which was at all appetizing. Instead of staying the second night, I checked out and moved over to the Hilton, which was fabulous. Unfortunately, there was little to like about the Holiday Inn Express Chongqing, and I sadly cannot recommend it.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel over the China's National holiday, from 1 - 7 Oct. The staff were very courteous and helpful to us. They responded to our requests promptly. The price of the hotel is only RMB328 per night, and given that we were staying there for over 2 days, the hotel manager offered us a discount, and the rate comes with complimentary buffet breakfast for 2. Considering the price we were paying, you really can't find any hotels in China like this hotel. It is, to us, a most value for money hotel in China! We actually intended to stay there for only 3 days, but the bed was the comfiest ever (the quality is as good as a 5 star hotel!), and we had brilliant nights sleep. Although it' rated as a 4-star hotel, we were surprised to find out that there were international TV programmes such as HBO, CNN, in this hotel. I guarantee you that you will not regret choosing this hotel when you visit Chongqing!

The hotel is a good choice for those looking for comfortable western standard accommodation, but not concerned about central location. The hotel is located in the north of central Chongqing, in the Jiangbei area. Taxi would be the best option to/from the hotel, as the closest metro station is quite a distance, especially if you have a lot of luggage, or are traveling during Chongqing’s very hot summers.
The hotel is fairly new and the rooms and public areas are well kept. The photos of the lobby on the hotel’s website make it appear much larger and grander than it actually is. In fact it is quite small, but functional. The Great Room where breakfast is served is also not so “great” and grand at the website photos suggest.
Check-in was quick and smooth. Luggage carts (similar to those at airports) are available for guests to bring luggage to/from the rooms.
The room was a bit small, but very comfortable and had many nice amenities. Free wired internet (no wifi) was available and there were a variety of international TV channels available. There was a panel on the desk for connecting audio/video, USB, etc. to the TV. Slippers, complimentary bottled water and instant coffee and tea were provided. The air conditioning worked very well, which is a necessity in Chongqing’s hot and sticky summer. The bathroom was very nice, with a very big shower. However, only liquid soap was provided and the dispenser near the sink dripped. While the liquid soap is more environmentally friendly and economical, many people to prefer bar/cake soap (so bring/buy your own, if you’re like me).
Free breakfast was included (as is the case with all Holiday Inn Express). However, it was mostly Chinese style breakfast (vegetables, noodles, rice, porridge, steamed buns, etc). There was yogurt and cold cereal available for those with western tastes. As Holiday Inn is an international brand, more western style breakfast options should really be available. Several other Holiday Inn Express hotels in China that I’ve stayed in have a much better breakfast selection.
There is a self-service “Laundry Corner” on fourth floor with 2 washers, 1 dryer, a sink and 1 iron and ironing board. Laundry soap (several types) is provided by the hotel, but guests much purchase laundry tokens from the front desk. Tokens are 15 RMB each and 1 is required for 1 washing or drying cycle.
Check-out was also quick and smooth.
Overall the hotel was very comfortable and I would recommend it to anyone looking to stay in this area, or who are seeking good value over central location.

I have had good luck with Holiday Inn Express hotels in China. They're not expensive, and the room charge includes Internet access and breakfast. The hotels tend to be in interesting neighborhoods, and the rooms are fine if bland. Maybe above all, you can reserve non-smoking rooms, something that's not possible in most mid-range Chinese hotels.

The Holiday Inn Express in Jinxiucheng, Chongqing, is a lot like other Chinese Holiday Inn Expresses. The room, on the 11th floor, was perfect and had a great view. The hotel is in a bustling, mostly high-rise residential and commercial district, a painless 15-minute walk from the subway. Only oddity: No one at the front desk seems to speak more than a word or two of English. I managed with my mediocre Chinese (although dealing with laundry tokens pushed my Chinese further than it can go). Some foreigners might not feel comfortable with this.
