“Great location and packed with information”
Reviewed November 18, 2013

The dioramas were really imaginative... some parts as if you are walking down the river with life size boats and models. Great little coffee shop in the museum and right across the plaza try Lucky Fish restaurant.

Really worth a visit especially if you are to embark on a cruise of the 3 Gorges. Friendly and helpful staff.

“Worth the visit”

I thought it will be a boring museum on propaganda. Turns out to be pleasant surprise. There are many artefacts from the different eras. The museum is also well maintained. A must to visit.

“Fantastic Museum”
Reviewed October 19, 2013

We had limited time here, so as we were sailing through the actual Three Gorges Locks a few days later, we confined ourselves to viewing their display of Neolithic Chinese ceramics.
They were sensational, very well displayed, but with very few explanations in English (I suppose the British Museum does not have explanations in Mandarin!)
Entry is free.
The architecture of this ultra-modern museum is also stunning.
It was a shame that we didn't have more time here.

“Go to the actual Three Gorges instead”
Reviewed October 16, 2013

I think the name says it all, you are so close to the actual Three Gorges that it is better to just travel to the actual thing. Having said that, the museum is free so if you find yourself with extra time on your hand, why not pay a visit.
