The Somerset is more an apartment than a hotel but they happily accept overnight stays. We stayed in a 1 bedroom deluxe and it was huge. There is a full kitchen, a lounge and separate bedroom and a large bathroom with a washing machine. Our room was on a high floor with great views and the hotel is just a block from the pedestrian shopping street. It is also close to where the Three Gorges Ships leave from. A metro station is 10 minutes flat walk away and there are pedestrian lights (essential to survive the crossing). The metro goes to the intercity train station and to the airport.
This would be a great place to stay for an extended time or for a business trip as well as for a holiday.
Reception were very helpful and the breakfast was good and, although the staff there didn't speak much English, they were extremely helpful and enthusiastic.
This was the best hotel we stayed at in China.

Room Tip: The deluxe rooms are amazing well worth any upgrade.

Somerset is a really great apartment hotel. Modern, good furnishing, clean, central location, fast internet speed, wifi included.

My main complaint is that the aircon is usually turned off in the middle of the night. When I queried the reception about this, they said something about there being a time or temperature limit and would note that we want the aircon kept on throughout the night. Well, that night the aircon went off even earlier at 1am! Luckily it is spring and not summer yet.

Breakfast food is OK and includes a small choice of east & west. The coffee is not good. Anyway, it is hard to get good coffee in China hotels. Bring your own!

Was upgraded from the booked Studio to a Suite.
Pro: Perfect Location close to the Pedestrian Area with lots of Shops and Restaurants (i.e. Carrefour and Ole around the Corner), 200m to the next Subway Line (U1 final station X..., so you can reach the hotel from the airport by subway).
Spacious Rooms, everything is new and nice, comfortable bed, AC which can be used for Heating and Cooling, nice views from the Room
Free Wifi Internet in the Rooms with good Speed.
Breakfast Western Style
Nice Indoor Pool
Staff speaks English and is very helpful.
Definitly the best Place I have been in China (this means a lot 4 and 5 star places)
Cons: None
Additional Tip: Do a ride withe the Cablecar across Yangtse River (only 5Y) with great views. On the other side I recommend a stroll along the streets. You will see real China.

We had a great stay at this hotel. Unfortunately it was only one night. The hotel is conveniently located in the city's financial center, a few blocks from the metro and with good facilities and better services for people.
The rooms are spacious and clean and well equipped.
The only negative is the breakfast, not very western traveler friendly. But you can manage in your apartment kitchen...

This hotel is gorgeous. It is real 4 or 5 star stuff.
The room was clean and a good size and had free wifi and TV.

It's not the cheapest place to stay in Chongqing, but for value for money it is worth it. One night's stay is about £36 (Y360), which may be a lot for people on a local wage, but for those travelling on holiday is comes into the budget range.

Truly a budget price with a luxury feel.
