“Eye Opener”

This is one of those restaurants that make you realise what all the fuss is about regarding Chinese food. We returned twice just to try other dishes on the menu. The Crispy Prawns (Homemade Style) was easily our favorite. The Pork Liver with Leek was also wonderful. Many dishes the I can't remember the name of now were also wonderful! The menu is extensive.

The setting is really charming, furnished in an old but airy style, set out on 2 levels surrounding a courtyard with trees and 2 caged singing birds.

Service is very prompt and warm. Even when waiting for a table you are seated with drinks and tasty snacks.

The price was very good! We consistently came to 200Y for 2 including fresh tea although I find the drinks a bit expensive. On one visit we went up to 250Y and could not finish our food.

The restaurant is a bit hard to find at first, being about 5 minutes walk from Yong Anli station. If you try and find the twin LG towers, it is at the foot of the one furthest from the station and on the back alley side (not the main road side).

“Love the place”
Reviewed November 21, 2013

Ambience is really important to me when it comes to enjoying a meal. This was the perfect place for having a Chinese meal. The decor was exuded old Chinese charm, and effort was clearly taken to keep waiting customers entertained. They had a parrot in the hallway, where tea and other cold beverages were served while we waited. The main dining hall was huge and nicely spaced out, lending a grand banquet feel to it, like we were all eating in celebration of some royalty's birthday. We also had lunch at the dining area on the first floor, by the window -that was a lovely experience as well. We just sat there and conversed for an hour after the meal, sipping tea and enjoying the tranquility of the place. The food itself was fine, good value for money. Great place for unwinding and talking about the art (in the 798 District where the restaurant is located).

“Feel imperial”
Reviewed October 27, 2013 via mobile

Liked the deco, creative food which you can not find elsewhere, cool plates/ bowls that always made me want to grab them home ...
But too small the amount and expensive.
service: just a little above average, not quite superior compared to its positioning, perhaps I dreamed myself princess in the imperial palace...

“Great food great fun.”
Reviewed October 19, 2013 via mobile

Went there with two other couples and had a private room. The service was excellent and made up for lack common language. The food was well prepared and served with a eye to presentation. We are still talking about the night a week later.

“Overrated”
Reviewed October 17, 2013

Service was prompt with enthusiasm. The food however was not impressive. We had the signature soup which was all right, the mixture with rice was something different. The pork belly was quite good. The jelly fish was pretty much a savory jelly. Tea was costly but tasetless. Overall it was all right but with the price like that, I expect much more.
