This hotel could not possibly be better located. The main entrance is partway down Nanluoguxiang and surrounded by interesting shops and cafés, and at night hordes of street traders. It's a few minutes walk through the hutongs to the Drum and Bell tower and the beautiful lakes of Houhai. The metro is a ten minute walk in the other direction.
We stayed in one of the cheapest rooms in the hotel - it was a little small but had a good bathroom and a comfy bed at prices comparable to private rooms in hostels. The rest of the hotel was very nicely decorated and consistent with the atmosphere of the surrounding streets.
The free breakfast was enough for most people but not really luxurious - for what we had paid I think it was fine but probably not for some of the more high end rooms. The wifi worked perfectly for us all through the hotel. Having Starbucks in the lobby was a bit of a surprise, but it's not obtrusive and i like a morning latte. More
