“Good Hotel, leave some extra time for checkout”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 16, 2013

Overall a very nice hotel with nicely decorated and spacious rooms. The location is close to many nice shopping areas, and a 3 minute walk to the subway. The breakfast buffet has many good choices including European and American breakfast items.

The staff was helpful and professional. However, leave some extra time for checkout as there are often lines of people waiting to check out. It took me approximately 20 minutes for a straight-forward check out (no bill disputes, just signing my name), and there were only 2 people in front of me in line.

Very lovely hotel in a great location. Not as nice as the 2 big Marriott's in Shanghai city, but still pretty good. Decent size room & bath-huge shower. Check in was a breeze.they need a Sav Blanc in the lounge-pretty poor white Chinese wine. Everyone seemed to drink the bubbles, they were very good. The Asian Bistro is enormous, with something for everyone. Huge bath towels, nice bed. Surrounded by the most $$$ stores & designer labels ,The Chinese even pay more for apple products than in the states. Do not come to Beijing the 1st week of oct, it's their festival time & the entire country has the week off. You'll be driven crazy!!

Room Tip: Be polite at check in.Witnessed an American couple who were very rude & they couldn't get a...

Real luxury hotel. Given my company had a good deal here, the rooms were not pricey, so its one of the best value for money.

the rooms were spacious, very good internet connectivity, surprising calm in the hustle bustle of beijing.

Offcourse my standard complaint : very limited food options for veggies, the breakfast spread sounded interesting but not for the vegeterians with very limited options. Marriott should look at this as key element, given the world is moving toward more healthy and veggie food.

the amenities in the hotel was very class - showcased some classy chinese arts also inside.

Overall good experience

Front desk checkin fantastic. Paid $85 + tax to upgrade to executive floor. Best deal ever as breakfast is $40pp and executive lounge upgrade invluded restaurant buffet dining downstairs or in executive lounge. So you nearly break even just for breakfast. Then they have open bar cocktails from 5-7pm with hors doeurves. Now boy does this hotel take hors doeurves seriously! It's basically dinner! All the standard lite bites plus 3 full entrees nightly! Seriously a full dinner with drinks for free! Absolutely fantastic!

Now the reason I rated this hotel one full star less than it could have achieved: lack of English in every department except for supervisory staff, front desk and concierge. Go into the restaurant and you are immediately in a Chinese restaurant in the middle of Beijing instead of the main restaurant in a JW Marriott hotel. Nearly three quarters of the English speaking guests are reduced to pointing and one word requests. Very poor and frustrating.

Hotel is also a distance from major attractions which with the terrible traffic kills at least an hour each day in extra travel.

Very nice hotel. Service was very good. The gym is nice (including free weights). It is across the street from a mall which is convenient. The food is a bit pricey so it may be good to plan to go out to eat at the mall in the food court (there are some good options).

Very warm and welcoming staff (just like any hotel in China though). We got upgraded to a suite - it was luxurious! Especially the bathroom. Breakfast was also quite wonderful - lots of options to suit eastern and western tastes.
