We arrived via taxi from Beijing West Railway Staion. Driver dropped us at the rear entrance and employees were rushing out to greet us and take our bags to the main lobby. Check-in was quick, we were shown to our room and our bags arrived after about 2 minutes. We chose to upgrade to Executive Club access for 400 RMB per day or about $63 USD. This allowed us to eat breakfast in the club or at the Asia Bistro in the lobby. We chose to eat at Asia Bistro each morning and there was a huge assortment of delicious food. We had afternoon tea once in the club and we ate dinner there each night. Soft drinks, water, and cocktails/beer/wine are included. The food choices in the club were enough to keep us very satisfied. They had three entrees each night plus cheeses, fruit, salads, breads, desserts, etc. We did not want to bother looking for restaurants so the Executive Club upgrade worked well for us and saved us quite a bit of money.
This hotel was our favorite during this trip which included the Marco Polo Hong Kong, Park Hyatt Seoul, and Keio Plaza Shinjuku. The room was spacious with push button controls for lights and window shades. The king size bed was comfortable and the bathroom was large and contained an oversize bathtub and separate glass enclosed rain forest shower. The gym and pool facilities were very nice with a good selection of equipment in the gym. Each locker room has a dry sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, and rain forest showers. The pool temperature was just right.
The location was perfect although the shopping in the area is strictly high end stores such as Prada, Gucci, Fendi, etc. The Ritz Carlton is next door. It is a 5 minute walk to Dawang Lu subway station on line 1. Traffic is so snarled that we used the subway rather than taxis. The subways were crowded but it was better than sitting in traffic. However, we took a taxi to the hotel after we arrived at Beijing West railway station. It took about 45 minutes in traffic but only cost $8 US. We also took a taxi to the airport and it was $15 US.
The employees were extremely friendly and courteous. Most spoke fluent english. the room was spacious, comfortable, and quiet. We would certainly stay here again.
