“Authenting "Peking Duck" in Beijing”
Reviewed October 2, 2013

We went to Da Dong for lunch. The Peking Duck was excellent. Other dishes we had, like Szechuan shrimp and spicy beef with vegetables convinced me of the authenticity of some of the Chinese dishes I order in the U.S. But the Da Dong duck was really special - moist meat and crispy skin, sliced tableside and served. I was there on a hot summer day, and they had a very refreshing green mint drink over ice.

“Superb duck with a bit of theatre”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

This is a very popular restaurant and busy most of the time.
The standout hero is the peking Duck although there are literally book loads of other dishes available - all pretty good.
If you haven't been to a Beijing duck restaurant before you're in for a surprise - a good one - the ducks are cooked in a way that has very little fat left and a lot of crispy skin - once you've had these there is no going back!
Go into the kitchen area (encouraged) and watch the theatre as the supervisor with the clipboard checks and approves the duck coming out of the kiln oven for carving, and the chef breaks off the neck to drain the residual fat out before serving.

“Perfection”
Reviewed September 28, 2013

First time in Beijing so of course we decided to have peking duck. So glad we did. This restaurant cooked the duck to perfection. Event the sautéed veggies were delicious. This is one of the best experiences I've had and am thankful we made the time to try it out. I definitely recommend to everyone!!

“Good Peking Duck”
Reviewed September 27, 2013

Good service, good food, good Peking Duck.
Crown napkin seat is for the head of the table.
We had a large party (10-12) and they were able to accommodate us, with a call ahead.

“Duck at it's best but the crowds spoil things”
Reviewed September 27, 2013 via mobile

Came for the duck after our hotel made reservations, upon arrival were told our name was not on the list and finally given a table at the kitchen door. Normally my husband would bolt but not a lot of choices to turn to quickly. The good part we saw some amazing dishes coming out. Had the half duck for two and some creative vegt. Dishes. The duck was perfect, lean sweet with the right crunch we had a great desert. To their credit when we reported what happen with the table to our concierge the restaurant sent over a large box of Moon cakes in apology. The meal was great and so we returned a second time but the crowds and waiting even with a reservation recognized this time took away from the enjoyment of the meal.
