“A little peace and serenity in Beijing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 10, 2013 via mobile

Very helpful in getting us from airport w many bags the rooms are gorgeous and appear to be more Japanese than Chinese style. Very close to Forbidden City and Tienamen Square. Shopping everywhere very reasonably priced. Gets more expensive the closer you get to Tienamen Only here 3 nights - on way home to USA from inland. I was definitely happy with the accommodations here at Kapok

This is the right hotel is you are looking for the nearest hotel close to the palace and wangfujing area. Both about 10-15 mins walk. It's good if you wish to beat the crowd.

The hotel is neat. Not very clean ad the balcony is quite dirty ( we were quite looking forward to the courtyard room at first), we found some long hair on the floor and bed as well. This is quite disappointed. Afterall, if you compare to most 3-4 stars hotel in China, this hotel is considerably alright. And the price is pretty good when you book during promo.

Not much info you can get from this hotel. And the breakfast buffet is ridiculously high. RMB150 per person. You can get a pretty good meal in Beijing with this price. Though there are some eatery shops across the hotel, we only ate once. The shop is not so honest. Ask the price before you order!

The other thing to take note is, the hotel is not really nearby any train station.

We were lucky to book into this hotel after some miscommunication with our agent. The hotel has a nice chic design, very clean and good location. The staff were helpful amd oke English well. Will definitely stay here again.

Loved the location of this hotel. Turn right from the entrance and you are close to the Wangfujing shopping area. Turn left and you are close to the Forbidden City. Also within walking distance to Tiananmen Square (about 20 minutes walk). Some local restaurants and a Subway sandwich right across the road. Room was spacious with contemporary design and comes with free wifi too. No problems with check-in despite arriving at the hotel in the middle of the night. Overall a great choice for tourists in Beijing!

We stayed for 6 nights in a Fashion Suite. The suite was clean and spacious, We had two beds, a sofa, a computer (with free internet access) and a large bathroom. As a family of 4 this room was a great size The staff were helpful. We were given complimentary breakfast for the adults so we paid for the children's breakfast. The breakfast selection was good but not exceptional, we would have gone elsewhere if we had to pay full price. RMB 115 per adult half price for children 6-12yr olds. The walk to the subway is 10-15 minutes. There is a 24 hour convenience store almost next door.
I would recommend this hotel!

This was our first stop upon our arrival to Beijing.
It is located Within walking distance of the Forbidden city and ,Wangfunjing (walking street). The subway station is also close by, if you need it.
The hotel is very nice. The front desk staff is friendly.
There is a restaurant in the lobby. We did not eat there, ¥125 per person ($20) is steep for breakfast. Lot of amenities within the room including power strips that fit our portable chargers.

There are many local markets and shops close to this hotel. A bank is very close if you need to exchange currency or get change for large bills.
We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Be prepared for a very hard bed. Not like Europe or in the USA.

The hotel is well located near all the attractions. It's only an hour from the airport by taxi we were charged around 250 RMB. Now if this is your first time in china please be aware there are taxi touts around the airport who will rip you off so avoid them. Just go to the information counter and they will point you downstairs where all the metered cabs are. There is also another information counter for the taxis downstairs and they speak English & can write the name of the hotel out for you in Chinese script. Then just join the locals in the line, show the cab driver the piece of paper & they will drop you off at the hotel. I would advice people who have heavy luggage to take a taxi since it takes around 15 to 20 mins from the nearest Subway Wangfujing to walk to the hotel. The hotel offers a really good map so don't buy any at the airport & it also includes a good subway map. The hotel staff are very helpful. The meals at the hotel are pricey breakfast was around 150RMB but I guess that's not unexpected for a hotel meal. There heaps of spots to eat outside the hotel and we only had that one meal.
I do believe the hotel can arrange tour services for guests but I cannot comment on prices for you since we organized everything ourselves. The hotel has no swimming pool, the Tv remote was a bit fiddly to get around trying to find an English Channel. For example, the HBO channel on the hotel guide turned out to be the pinoy channel on the Telly, it took me a second to work out why iron man was speaking inTagalog and not in English after 5 minutes of waiting I gave up and kept flipping channels until I found an English news channel.
Be aware also of the 15% charge on top of the room charge and the 3000RMB deposit they made me pay on arrival which you do get back on check out. Please be aware that in China we have found all hotels charge deposit even though it is stated when we booked through booking. com that deposit would not be charged. So it would be wise to carry cash on you as they do not accept foreign credit cards only Chinese credit cards is what we found. Good thing we had enough cash between us. Also don't forget to collect your deposit on check-out , they give you a receipt once you hand in your deposit. Keep it safe since they will ask for it so you can get your money back. Getting back to the airport we caught a taxi outside the hotel the meter said 120 RMB.

All in all we enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: When we arrived the first night they gave us one of the suites because our Courtyard double twin roo...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Hotel Kapok in Beijing is a uniquely designed boutique hotel located in the heart of this ancient Chinese city. A modern looking boutique hotel crafted with a touch of Chinese influence, next to the Forbidden City in Beijing. The lantern, a traditional icon in China, is used as a concept of exterior design, which breaks the boundaries between inner space and outdoor environment. An unconventional layout presents a spacious area; the ample use of glass enhances the natural light and the bamboo courtyard in the lobby slows the pac e of urban life. Hotel Kapok consists of 89 guestrooms and 16 suites, appointed with small gardens on the balcony. The interior design focuses on simplicity and pureness: white is all-pervading in the room, wooden floors and glass built bathrooms liberates the traveler's body and soul. The "Staircase Library" certainly increases the joy of reading. Hotel Kapok delivers personalized services while providing conveniences such as restaurants, bars, meeting rooms, business and fitness center.Hotel Kapok is located in the heart of Beijing , on the east side of the Forbidden City, minutes away from the famous shopping district Wangfujing. Tiananmen Square, Temple of Heaven, Beijing Train Station is also close by. ... more   less
