We stayed at this hostel for 3 nights in June 2012. We made a last minute booking while on the road, I would definitely suggest booking a couple of weeks in advance, as when we called there wasn't much choice left. My husband and I would have liked a double room, but we ended up in dorms since that was all that was available.

Our absolute favorite thing about this hostel is the location, wow! It's a very central location located on one of Beijing's famous Hutongs, and it is one of the best locations to stay at in Beijing if you are there to go site seeing. There are plenty of places to eat, lots of shops, and bustling nightlife on the street out front. It's also quite close to the Forbidden City ...

The rooms were VERY clean, probably the cleanest rooms we encountered in our travels throughout China. The only thing we didn't like is our room didn't have a window. We didn't spend much time in the room though so it didn't matter, it was just nice to come back to a clean room every night.

With your stay you get a complementary breakfast at the cafe next door. It was fairly basic breakfast - toast, scrambled eggs, fruit, coffee ... but it was definitely good to get you going.

We booked a tour with the hostel - the Great Wall Hiking trip. Absolutely fantastic - they take you to un-restored portions of the Wall and you do a 7 km hike. I would not suggest this if you are not physically in shape, but we really enjoyed it, as it was a portion of the Wall that was not touristy and our 30 person group was the only group on that section of the Wall. The hostel also provides round trip bus transportation.

Room Tip: Book early in order to get the room you want, this place is popular!

We stayed for a week during CNY and had a double room for ¥160 a night. The bedroom was a good size but no window or tv. The bathroom was on the small size but still had a hot shower. The Internet was rubbish we could hardly ever connect. When we did it was painfully slow. This wasn't good cause we need to re confirm flights and emails .
The breakfast is ok, your not missing much if u prefer to lay in haha. The bar next door which I think us run by the hostel is very expensive like ¥35 for a tea / hot chocolate. That is a joke tbh. If you our on a budget keep in mind the location is a tourist trap. We had to walk 20 mins to the very nice ' ghost street' see LP book to have decent and reasonably price food. If you are arriving from a train station, we found it hard to take a taxi so take the subway. There is now a new terminal added only 5 mins from the hostel on line 6.
The downside for me was some staff were not very happy and seemed to get annoyed when I asked them questions. Obviously I arrived during CNY and was expecting the staff to give us lots of info of stuff going on around the city but all we got was actually there isn't much on or I'm not sure. We found out by the slow internet ourselfs about temple fairs and the near by lakes.

I stayed here for 3 nights during the Autumn Festival Golden Week, so as you can imagine Beijing was absolutely heaving, but this hostel is a nice little base to come back to after a long day sightseeing.

We arrived at beijing train station and took a taxi to just off nan luo gu xiang. We were a little confused but soon realised the chaos that ensues when a taxi tries to go down the lively street in this hutong. The street is filled with cute shops selling all kinds of nick nacks as well as lots of laid back bars and restaurants.

The hostel has it's own restaurant which was pretty good and fairly priced, but there are so many great restaurants & street food in the area. Breakfast was pretty good considering that it is included although I can imagine the restaurant could get pretty busy. There is also a common area and small shop near the reception area. The common room was good with the usual books & tv but it was a little small.

The rooms themselves were good, but quite basic. I stayed in a 6 bed mixed dorm and so using the bathroom was sometimes an issue & water seemed to get everywhere as it is a wet room style, but generally wasn't an issue.

We booked two trips through the hostel - Mutianyu Great Wall and Beijing Opera. The great wall trip was great fun. We'd heard this was the 'fun' section of the wall and quite commercial, but it was actually really good. We got a mini bus there which took about 1.5hrs and spent around 3 hours on the wall. We took the chairlift up and toboggan down (80kuai, not included) then we had lunch which was included, before heading to the Birds Nest Stadium. The next day we went to the Beijing Opera. It was actually at a hotel, which was a tad dissappointing, but it was a good experience & convenient to have it all organised. We booked both through the hostel so got a 25 kuai discount, though I can't remember how much it was altogether.

All in all a great place to stay in a really cool area of Beijing. I really recommend the food market where you can sample all sorts of strange creatures!

An excellent hostel on one of B's most happening streets. The staff were helpful and English-proficient, and they're opening a nearby Metro stop soon! I recommend this place to others. Breakfast was included. The water was warm.

This is a nice hostel for those who want a cheap stay in Beijing. It really is a good value for money but don't expect too much. The rooms are quite ok. You can have a private shower if you want. And also TV was included. And Wifi in the lobby area. The bad thing is, that its pretty far from the Beijing Metro Station. You have to walk like 15 minutes. Or you just take a cab to whereever you want to go. It's still kind of cheap in Beijing. All in all a good and cheap place to stay.

My family and friends stayed in this hostel for 5D/5N from Dec.7-11. Our room was large enough for 6 pax with 3 double beds but we booked the room for my family only (4 pax). The CR is just right and cleaned everyday, with hot and cold water. The climate is so cold outside but the room is warm enough. There are thermos of hot water by the hallway for anyone to bring to their room. The staff are also accommodating and can speak English. The beds were comfortable but no TV in the room. With wifi connection. Breakfast is served every morning but for 5 mornings, we have the same orange juice, 3 toasted bread, 1 sausage or bacon, butter and jelly, fried egg and 2 small slices of fruit. I suggest to management to have variations for each morning for 7 days. We were fetched and brought to the airport for a fee like in a taxi.

Food stores are found around it. So many streetfoods, small restaurants and shops when you get out of the hostel. Not so long walk to the main road where our tour bus usually waits us for. However, it is so far from the subway station. We walked about 8-10 blocks from the hostel. We thought of taking a bus but almost all Chinese we asked for direction cant understand and speak English so we'd rather rely on maps.

You can ask them to fetch and bring you to the airport for a fee like in a taxi.
Overall, I would recommend this hostel. God bless.
