This hotel leaves a lot to be desired the rooms are dirty especially the bathroom. There is a very strong smell in the rooms and halls that is not pleasant. The one positive is the location it is close to the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and shopping areas.
Disappointing that respected, well known tour companies are using this as a starting point hotel. It doesn't give a very good first impression of the quality of the tour experience to come. That was the only reason I stayed and would not recommend anyone stay here by choice.

I stayed at this hotel for one night at the end of a tour and thankfully I was only planned to be there for one night.
While the location is excellent - brilliant for access to Tiananmen Square and food and shopping......the cleanliness was less than desirable. Mould in bathroom, dust covering furniture, clear lines around edges of floor where the mopping had obviously stopped for a long time.
The bed was hard (as is to be expected in China) however, it was the springs that could be felt that made it so uncomfortable to sleep on.
Staff English was limited but I found them to be pleasant and helpful during my limited stay.
Luckily I was on the 2nd flor so the elevator went to my floor - 6th floor guests were not so lucky.
No soundproofing between rooms and corridors meant it was loud in the room when people were talking there or coming and going.

Situated close to Tiananmen square this is a good starting point for discovering this huge city. The room was spacious but the lighting was poor and the bathroom could have been cleaner. The lift only goes to the fifth floor after that you need to take the staircase. There is a 100yuan deposit for the key ....keep the receipt otherwise your will not get your refund.

Room tip: Must not be above fifth floor otherwise you need to carry your luggage up stairs

This hotel/hostel is in an ideal location 10 mins from square ) forbidden city and line 2 subway with restaurants and shops more or less on its door step. We stayed for 10 nights just your basic room TV , kettle. The aircon was absolutely useless so we had to buy our own electric fan so sweaty at night and for the entire 10 nights our bed linen was never changed once . Only one reception staff could speak some English the rest no chance so having a translation app in your phone is helpful the staff in the shop where nice and price not to bad Nancy has good English. In the promo videos and pictures of hotel shows you a bar on site this is not the case as this was the reason we chose it that we could relax in the bar after a busy day sight seeing . Would I return probably not as although was cheap sleeping in your stale sweat for 10 nights is a bit off putting

The hotel is basic (with no breakfast) and the receptionists hardly speak any English. Instead go to the shop inside the hotel. Nancy is very nice and also speaks English very well. She will help you.

The rooms were basic but clean. Location was fine. Close by the shopping area, and 5-10min walk to the metro station.

Room tip: Take a room at the back side (so away from the busy street)
