“Hidden Gem in the heart of Beijing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 13, 2010

This charming boutique hotel is nestled in the old Hutong (Alley) of the capital city, it combines the old chinese tradition and the new world's modern amenities. We loved the elegant ambience of the hotel, it's tranquility (as it's deep in a hutong, it's very quiet inspite of being in the heart of bustling capital city), comfortable bed, and friendliness of the staff. Rooms are larger than the ones we used to in other boutique hotels, decorations are tastful ( chinese style but without the tanky red and gold colors). The court yard has a small pond with a Guiyin status, it suppposed to bring good fengshui. Because of the homy setting and staff's friendliness, we feel like at home. Very different from our experience in big modern hotels. We are also pleasantly surprised that it offers free wireless access so we can get in touch with our family while on the road. The rooftop of the hotel offers a great view of the surrounding neighborhood, it was a bit chilly in late September, but we certainly enjoyed sipping tea on the rooftop.

As it's hidden in a Hutong, this hotel is not the easiest to find, but walking down the alley where normal Beijiingers live and work itself is an interesting experience (if you are adventurous enough, try get a hair cut at a nearby shop for just 10 Yuan).

Overall, this is a wonderful boutique hotel which offers a true Beijing experience, we would stay here again.

This incredibly charming hotel gives you a very local feel but still keeps modern comforts at hand. It is definitely not a cookie cutter hotel chain but we still felt pampered.

What a charming little hotel that is!!
Located in a Hutong, it has a beautiful court yard where you can sit and sip your afternoon tea in the outdoor space. Unlike the big hotels, it is very quite here.
Rooms are spacious and have atmosphere of bungalows. The decoration of the rooms are modern yet with traditional elements. Food and service are excellent.
I would definitely recommend this place and stay there in the future.

We stayed at the Hotel Cote Cour Beijing in Beijing in the cold month of January--and enjoyed every minute there. Spending a few days in the hutong is a very different way of getting to know Beijing--the way it was for many years but is now changing due to all the development and growth. The staff worked very hard to make us feel at home and couldn't have been nicer. It was easy walking through the hutong to get to a main street to catch a taxi or get on the subway. Local restaurants nearby; enjoyable great room for breakfast and drinks; and a quiet, relaxing atmosphere. I'm sure it's even lovelier in the spring when things are in bloom.

After a business trip in August, I had a few days spare to spend in Beijing. Searching the internet for attractive hotels close to the centre of the city, I was lucky enough to see Hotel Cote Cour's web page. And it certainly lived up to expectations. The rooms are situated around a beautiful courtyard in traditional style, and one of the lotus plants in the central pond even produced a spectacular flower on my second morning there.

Hotel Cote Cour is situated in a hutong, which is one of its attractions. Despite being surrounded by the busy streets of Beijing, it is very quiet inside the hotel. All the staff were so friendly and helpful, whether or not they spoke English. The chef welcomed me each morning with a cheerful smile and a delicious breakfast, as well as cooking a superb dinner (which has to be pre-ordered) one night. I look forward to having an excuse to return to Beijing and Cote Cour.

We stayed here two nights by accident. Hotel we booked was full so we got an e-mail from them saying we could stay here instead..with the same price. So we agreed.

It proved to be good agreement. I have rarely, if never, seen this kind of service in Chinese hotels and I have seen plenty of them. Service was simply fantastic. This is indeed refreshing option to standard 4-5 star chain hotels. And it comes with good quality breakfast and wi-fi access in rooms too. If you are not experienced traveling in China this is really good place to start your adventure - it gives you really good vibes and taste of hutong life. But beware - after this it might not get any better.
