we stayed in this hotel for 2 nights, building is old, no parking, lobby is small, lifts are slow.... but rooms are comfortable and clean

Location was perfect for me, being a Muslim, I need muslim food and this problem solve here, this hotel is located on a square, and at a 1 minute walk found muslim food restaurant, food was mostly BBQ, really tasty, a photo of muslim food restaurant is attached with this review for reference only. There is a general store across the, can buy water, drinks etc

Have a nice trip ...

This was our first chinese hotel and was most satisfactory. The room was good size and clean although the bathroom was ready for re-grouting! We ate at both the Coffee House and in the main restaurant during our 3 night stay. The coffee house supplies excellent sandwich snacks of a western style, plus a variety of cakes. Tsingtao beer is refreshing and cheap. The restaurant serves superb chinese food and is cheaper to dine in than the coffee bar! We had a full meal plus beer for around £8 per head on our first evening.

The hotel is handy for Tian An Men Square and the Forbidden City. This is significant as all vehicles move extremely slowly in Beijing and it really is easier to walk to places within range!

Checkout is a bit of a nightmare. This seem to be a chinese peculiarity-rooms are thoroughly checked before you can leave. One of our party was involved in a contretemps re a mark on a towel. The price of a new towel was demanded, however our guide took the matter into her own hands with a judicious bit of hand washing -and the seemingly indelible mark was no more!!

On the whole a very adequate hotel in a good position forr sightseeing!

Room Tip: Our room was above the main entrance. Plenty of action in the day but perfectly quiet at night.

I stayed in this hotel in March 2013 for 3 days. We had a triple together with my friends, it was a large and comfortable room, clean bathroom, nice staff. I really enjoyed the european food from breakfast (cheese especially) as for the rest of our tour in China (about 10 days) we didn't get to see any in the other hotels.

We were very pleased with the hotel upon arrival. Starting with a smiley and fine young security personnel we also found the rooms clean and big and comfortable. We were happy with courteous housekeepers but that was about it. The lady on night shift at coffee bar was downright rude and have double standards. The girls at morning breakfast were generally sullen and sulky except for some older ladies. 10th floor was non smoking but a group of 9 caucasians were having a smoking party near the lifts. The shock came when we were accused of drinking bottled water ( refrigerated n room) which we could make out the 50 yuan label!who in the right mind would want iced water in winter? Btw now I am safy home I saw the room amenities offered 'bottled water complimentary'. Pla don't trap and accused your guests! Is it because we are Asians??

While not in the better part of Beijing, this hotel is a very good 3 star. Rooms are very adequate, two double beds, table, chairs, desk, refrigerator, t.v., good size room, coffee maker. Beds in China are not soft, but very hard, no matter how many quilts are put on top to try to soften you are still sleeping on a rock. Bathroom is very good, shower excellent, instant hot water. Breakfast, large room, with many good choices. Assortment of hot and cold dishes, juices, coffee, breads, cereal, eggs made to order, noodles, sausages, and more. Within walking distance are many restaurants, and only about 3/4 of a mile away is a fantastic walking street, with places to eat and shop. One street over from this is a five block long market street, where discussing price is the proper thing to do. Walking around at night seems to be safe, we did all the time.

Our favourite hotel on a Travelsphere HIghlights of China tour. Food was good and the rooms comfortable and clean. First impressions were a little offputting as there was a smell in the lobby area, but got used to it. As well as the bar in the lobby area there was another in the coffee house overlooking the patio area. This had charming glass fronted cubicals and a comfortable lounge area. The hotel had a pronounced Chinese feel to it and the surrounding area echoed this. We ventured out and over a road bridge to a local street, where there were bars and eating places (didn't like to chance any of the local delicacies though) although beers were the cheapest we encountered in china (10 yuan for 500 ml). Locals were very friendly and spoke better english than most of the hotel staff. The hotel was very convenient for Tian An Men square and the forbidden city.

We stayed four nights in the Dongfang hotel during trip to China. It was situated in a rather run down district, but was about 30 minutes walk away from Tiananmen Square and an upmarket shopping area. The room was adequatley large, the bedding and bathroom clean, but the carpet was dirty and the bed very hard (as we found in the majority of the Chinese hotels). It was a moderish high rise built over an early 20thC building. The breakfasts were fine, offering a mixture of western and Chinese food. The coffee shop, in an old part of the building, was great, but expensive. WiFi was availible in the coffee shop. Overall, a standard tourist hotel in a fairly convenient, albeit run down, location
