The staff was friendly despite our language barrier. However, our room smelled horrible. Noticing the ash tray in the room, we requested to have a non-smoking room instead. We were told that only the top floor of rooms were non-smoking and none were available. Sorry but the only good thing about this hotel was the politeness of staff. The smell was awful.

Room Tip: ask for non-smoking!!!!!

Positive: good location, clean, friendly staff, pool.

Negative: sewer smell in toilet. Not ventilated properly humidity after shower stays for a whole day. No wifi in room. Expensive breakfast. A little run down.

I'd recommend choosing a similarly priced room closer to the Golou from a 4 star hutong hotel.

This was our first stop in our China tour and offerred us a great first impression. The hotel is clean, modern and has a beautiful marble lobby. The room was nice and the buffet breakfast was great. The hotel restaurant was pretty expensive for China. We ventured out into the neighbourhood and had a rather fun experience in a local restaurant. English was not well spoken but the staff were eager to work with us on our order!

I would return to this hotel and would recommend it.

We spent here 5 days and I should say the we enjoyed every moment of it. Great Hotel in Beijing. Staff is super nice, accommodating and helpful. Hotel is near Drum Tower and Doufuchi Hutong. Breakfast serves continental food which is great and it's located near a market and has a 7-11 outlet just few meters away from the hotel. Bed is nice as well as the bathroom. Facilities of the hotel is also okay.

Room Tip: Choose a room with a King Size bed. Upgrade is free of charge.

the location is good but the access to the hotel is really complicated and you have to wait a long time for taxi. the a/c is a problem and because there is no windows per say, it becomes really hot at noon if your room is facing the sun. overall it is a five star hotel for the Chinese officials or business men coming to Beijing and tourist will have a hard time with it.

We spent a week here as part of a package tour and thoroughly enjoyed the hotel, their staff, who had no problem communicating with us in English, and the breakfasts that were included with our package were outstanding. The room was spacious and very clean with many conveniences, which included a purified water spigot as well as bottled water that was replaced as we used it. We read some of the reviews that stated this was a horrible place to stay -- not sure where they stayed, but it could not possibly have been here. Within a two block area there are many restaurants that are very good, a huge farmers market, the subway station (which was only a block away). We walked only a few blocks to where many "hutongs" were located. These are very old neighborhoods, some going back about 300 years.

We were pleasantly surprised how great this hotel is. Although it is not near Beijing's tourist attractions, the hotel is a great place to stay. The rooms were up-to-date and clean. Except for a special faucet for drinking water, there was little difference between this hotel and an American hotel. The continental breakfast provided by the hotel was a FEAST. Everything was available, from Chinese dishes, eggs, bacon, fruits, cereal, breads, soups, juices, and more.

The hotel had a fantastic workout room and a large indoor pool.

The surrounding neighborhood is interesting to walk around in. The are various grocery stores, neighborhood restaurants, and massage places. The subway station is about a block away from the hotel. Once a tourist gets used to the system (after about one adventure on the subway!) it's a good way to get to the shopping areas and historical places.

The only drawback to the hotel, is that, despite the fact that lots of Americans were there, the people at the front desk did not have a good grasp of English. The times I went to the desk to discuss some matter, they didn't really understand me. A manager had to be called out to handle the matter.
