“Clean and nice”
Reviewed March 1, 2013

The room was very noisy but clean and nice. It is within walking distance to the Pearl Market for great shopping or you could take a taxi. It may not be near the metro but this was part of a tour and trips to local attractions were organized from the hotel.

Room Tip: Upper floors are best

I stayed here for 3 nights at the end of an organised tour and stayed in room 720. It is an 8 storey hotel with functional rooms that were reasonably clean (apart from the carpet). My room was warm but others in my group complained of rooms that were very cold. We complained to reception who said they would provide 'heaters' which turned out to be an extra duvet. My request for a hairdryer was ignored. The - very bulky - TV had no English speaking channels, no CNN even. The phone had a large bright display panel but did not work and I had to disconnect it to get to sleep as it was so bright. The shower was good but the bathroom was a little 'tired' with cracked tiles and mould around the bath. The location was Ok for the Temple of Heaven. I viisted the nearby Qiamen Jianguo Hotel which has a theatre showing the Beijing Opera and was a joy to behold.

Was quite a distance from the metro. I was with a tour that ended & had booked an extra night. It took a LOT of convincing for them to honor the extra night despite my reservation in hand. Finally after asking the manager why they wouldn't honor it & showing the date I made the reservation, they said I could stay. I guess a conference must've booked after I made the reservation & it was overlooked somehow?

My room could've used new carpet. Lots of cigarette holes on floor (some large) & could've used something to clean out bathtub drain as water would accumulate while I showered. Also could've used more lights. Despite this, it was an average hotel.

Dont' usually notice beds in terms of hardness or softness, but this one was so hard that it was definitely memorable. Not an issue since I can sleep anywhere, but if you care about a soft bed, you won't find one here.

Room Tip: Not sure how to help here. Furthest from elevators & where people would gahter to talk in halls...

The location of this hotel is actually quite good, in that it is a pleasant one with a good selection of restaurants. It feels very safe and friendly And yes it is also convenient for the Temple of Heaven as well as a theatre which shows acrobatics and chinese theatre. But the downside is definitely that it is long walk from the metro and taxis getting back from it diffiicult to find. Yes you can flag them down but they often refuse to do the journey. On the three occasions we had to do this, it took us about 30 minutes plus each time to find a taxi willing to do the journey!
The rooms are perfectly functionable, with a good shower. The breakfast I found okay (I hated Chinese breafasts generally) and better than a lot that I ate. When I stayed at this hotel building work was going on both inside and outside of the hotel. The strange thing about this was that the work outside started up at about 10pm at night! The work inside was actually on our floor right next to our room and when we investigated the workman apologised (though I am sure it was not his fault that he was working at 10pm knocking away) and stopped making a noice. The work outside continued, though it was not that loud.
So yes I would recommend this hotel, but the fact that it is so far from the metro is a right pain!

Perfectly adequate for staying in the capital city, clean, comfortable, good choice of breakfast, but poor links to public transport. Close to the Temple of Heaven and about 30 mins walk to the Pearl Market (great for those souveniers!). £15 for a taxi to the airport.

The location is fine as long as the only sight you want to visit is the Temple of Heaven, which is about 15 minutes walk away. To get anywhere else, the nearest metro station is 30 minutes walk away. The rooms were perfectly standard and everything worked, although the rock hard bed gave me terrible backache. There was maintenance work going on on our floor and I thought it a bit odd that they didn't close the floor because of the noise and dust, but we were out most of the day anyway so it wasn't a big deal. The front desk staff were very helpful - all spoke some English and some of them very well. Breakfast was lovely, including a range of western and Chinese options.

location: easy walk towards west gate of temple of heaven

room: twin bed, as expected for a hotel of this class

amenities: as expected, but water might not flow evenly

concierge: there are lesser-classed hotels with better english communication skills than this one

room service: not as friendly
