“Lee Garden Apartment Beijing - Highly recommended for family”
Reviewed October 15, 2011

We stayed there for around a week . Apartment is good. Room service daily. We had the 2 bedrooms apartment with Lounge, kitchen, Laundry.

Location is perfect, 5 mins from Wangfujing st mall, 20mins from forbidden city.

Hotel staffs is friendly, particularly the Bell-boy, he is so friendly.

Be advised that the hotel wanted 2000 RMB deposit when you check-in (credit card is OK) and refund and you check out.

No Wifi (but none of the hotel in China has in-room Wifi anyway). Wired internet is provided free. We brought our own Wifi access point which works fine at every hotel we stayed in China.

In summary, this is not the most luxurious Hotel in BJ but if you travel with family, it's perfect !

We stayed (three of us) in a one bed room apartment for six days and found that it suit our needs perfectly. The apartment came with a kitchen equipped with among others a refrigerator, a microwave and even a washing machine. The location is excellent and only 200-300 meters from Wangfujing street. We would definitely go back to the Lee Garden the next time we visit Beijing.

Large rooms, pleasant staff, furnishings fairly old but all kept clean--with the inescapable exception that tobacco smoke permeated every room (I stayed in two different rooms on two different floors).

My two-teenaged sons and I recently spent 5 pleasant nights at the Lee Garden Service Apartments. We stayed in a one-bedroom suite and paid 200 RMB extra per night for a cot. We ended up at the Lee due to a last minute trip change (due to Hurricane Irene) when we had to reschedule our trip and our original hotel was booked.

Although Lee cost more than our original hotel, I couldn't have been more pleased with the choice. Its all about location and Lee was a perfect base for sightseeing in and around the Forbidden City and Wangfujing street. Walkable to three subway stations on different lines as well as the Forbidden City and Jingshan park area, I feel that our time was efficiently spent by staying at Lee.

The rooms were spacious and well appointed. The wired internet service worked well. Minimal charges for local telephone usage and mini bar - more expensive than running to the local store, but still inexpensive.

There was a kitchen which was minimally stocked with plates/utensils (we literally only had two plates & two bowls) but we only used it for snacks and breakfast (cereal/pastries) so it was sufficient. Really not well equipped enough to really cook. There was a very small washer/dryer combination with minimal instructions - but we managed to figure it out. The kitchen also had a raw sewage smell that came & went - we kept the sink plugs in and when I was about ready to go out and get some incense to burn, it got better.

The bed was EXTREMELY hard - it took a good three days to get used to - my youngest son slept on the couch so I had the hard bed all to myself! If a hard bed is a problem for you, than this is probably not the hotel for you.

The staff was nice and tried to be helpful, although language barrier was an issue. Even with having things written down in Chinese, we sometimes had difficulty communicating. But we persisted and managed to get things across.

Overall, a very pleasant stay. Would recommend for families looking for larger rooms as that can sometimes be challenging in Beijing. Also got a good deal on ctrip.com, who were very easy to deal with via email.

By our standards (we live in a 2 story house in Tokyo's 23 wards), the rooms were quite spacious. Two king size beds, 2 bathrooms, living room. Kitchenette with big fridge and washer-dryer were a big help. Don't forget to bring detergent. There's a small convenience store around the corner to stock up on beer and snacks, and a bakery by the nearest subway station, Dengshikou, if you want to have breakfast in your room. It's not a place for people who are used to staying in 5-star hotels with women in dresses and high heels, but I would definitely recommend it for modest, no-nonsense tourists, especially families. BTW, the TVs were old, not flat-panel.

These apartments are not far from Tianenman Square and the Forbidden City and in a beautiful area of Beijing.

There is a Peking Duck Restaurant just down the road in a little side street but you will need to ask the receptionist for directions on how to find it (try to get there before 6pm unless you like waiting in line for 2 hours).

The rooms are very big and spacious with comfortable beds (unless your child tries to sleep in one of the shelves in the storage area).

The spa is hot. The pool is a welcome relief after exploring all day.

After 23 hours travelling from Perth & four hours on the town afterwards - the hard bed and soft pillows equalled a great sleep.
From the welcome by doormen and the very helpful reception staff my four night stay was just perfect. The hotel location in Bejing is perfect for the tourist . Breakfast was just right
each day, try the omlette.... room service was good, especially from the asian selection.
Well recommended for any visit.
