“very touristic but enjoyable”
Reviewed February 6, 2014

If you take an hostel in this area you will be in center of Beijing and it will be the paerfect place to start visiting the city. Everything is very close - Tiananmen square, Summer Palace and also Temple of Heaven. Of course there are also very tourist street where you have to be careful to the people who invite you to take a tea with them and so on. Be aware also of the expensive touristic restaurant in this area. On the other hand, if you pay enough attention you will be able to find nice and cheap place where to eat even the famous Peking duck.

“Definitely worth a visit while in Beijing”
Reviewed February 3, 2014 via mobile

The main street going south from T square is a nice intro but it's going left on the side street that you find great street food and restaurants. Go right and lose yourself in the shopping street. Before you do, the electric street car on the main strip is a reminder that it was the first commercial street in old Beijing and home to the first American embassy in Beijing. I always bring my friends visiting here where I work and live.

“Fun but very touristy”
Reviewed January 22, 2014

Don't expect to get the best prices as this street is quite expensive. If you get off the main road and into the back alleys you can find some nice restaurants and little market stalls to buy knicknacks. It's better to go to Nanlouguxiang!

“Street for tourists; Pretty Chinese street with shops & restaurants”
Reviewed November 24, 2013

This street appears to be a perfect package for a time-constraint tourists; you can snap some good pictures with Chinese architecture in backdrop, shop souvenirs, and taste some teas & food. I noticed western business men wandering for gift shopping. Overall it's less crowded & less intimidating than local shops or other famous shopping district. I wish I could take more pictures there.
