“crowded but beautiful”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 26, 2013

Other reviewers are right that some maintenance is needed and crowds are horrendous but there is great beauty here as well. I wish more buildings were available for viewing but the views from the long corridor are beautiful despite the crowds and the feeling is relaxed. Wish they hadn't added food and souvenir concessions in the middle. They were intrusive. Smog detracts.

“Interesting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 25, 2013

The history behind the Long Corridor at the Summer Palace makes it unique, but architecturally is not different from the rest of the buildings. The Summer Palace was a good place to once again spend some extra time so that you can enjoy the whole park. The Dragon Boats are cool and you should definitely take the ride.

“So relaxing...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 22, 2013 via mobile

It is a long corridor where you can walk and feel all the ancestry of the emperatrix who was the real one that made this to relax in the summertime away from duties and the heat of the imperial palace. In every station you can still see all the paintings that talks about certain season of the year and is very educational. The lake that lies behind it is so relaxing even in the winter time when we went...watching the people walking in the thin ice made you wonder how crazy some people are!!

“Beautiful”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 22, 2013

The Summer Palace was the first place we visited in Beijing ... amazingly beautiful but be prepared for mega crowds! We found it easier to walk along the outside of the long corridor after an introductory look. Unfortunately, we didn't go to the temple at the top of Longevity Hill as part of our tour but it looked well worth a visit. We enjoyed a boat ride across Kunming Lake but this signals the end of your visit. The attraction is well worth a longer stay & I think our tour let us down on this one.

“Very crowded”

Can't really see what people see in this; I prefer the hills, views and three-dimensional feel of the grounds of the Summer Palace.
