Tsinghua is one of the top two universities in China (along with the adjacent Peking University). It is a very large campus with some beautiful gardens. But it is very crowded, traffic is nonstop (and does not stop for pedestrians), and some of the grounds looked a little run down. The students are terrific--some of the future leaders of China and the world. It is sometimes said that Peking U and Tsinghua U are the Harvard and MIT of Beijing. That seems an apt description. A good place to see if you are in the Haidian District and want ot get a sense of where the future scholars of China reside.
