My first room was small and not that clean. It was also uncomfortably hot at 31 degrees. I complained and was moved to a room with two doubles on the 7th floor. Although this room was slightly bigger it was still too hot and I was unable to turn it off or down. As It was 0 - 3 degrees outside, opening the windows helped. Everyone was very friendly and it is hard for me to say bad things but in truth if your looking for a cheap hotel in a good location then this should do you. The reception area, lifts and corridors are of a standard I'd expect, its just the rooms letting this hotel down. Work was a 10 minute walk away so I stayed the 4 nights.

Room Tip: Pick a non-smoking floor and the double rooms are slightly bigger. If not happy say so, the staff wi...

The hotel is well situated in the CBD area, close to a mall across the street, lots of dining choices underground and on top of mall. Starbucks behind hotel. Rooms were clean and great value. English not that well spoken but the older Concierge goes out of his way to help you even with is minimal non existent English. Subway is very close. Heating is an issue as it can get too hot in the room and you can't control it. Breakfast is subpar but cheap. Room are updated but bathrooms still look ancient.

I wrote a negative review about this hotel in December 2012 after staying in a room that felt well past its sell by date. However, on a subsequent visit in May 2013 (hotel is opposite company Beijing office, and Winterless is in a great location for anyone working in the Huamao complex) a number of things had improved. The lobby has been re-designed and modernized but more importantly the bedrooms have been redecorated with a contemporary feel (see photos). The small rear-facing window which backed onto a water tank was a disappointment, but new fixtures and fittings made my stay much more pleasant. However, this hotel remains relatively expensive (500 RMB for a standard room) when compared to much superior hotels within the same price range in Shanghai, Guangzhou and I am certain elsewhere in Beijing too.

Room Tip: Be absolutely certain to ask for a renovated room!

I just got back from 10 days in Beijing at this property.

It's very inexpensive, the staff is reasonably helpful and there laundry service was excellent.

My first room was 9007. Very dirty and smelling like an old ashtray.

My second room was on the fourth floor and much better. Still small, but much cleaner and less smell of cigarettes. Please note that an awful lot of people smoke in China, so don't be surprised to find them in restaurants and hotels.

As someone else said, the showers in both rooms didn't drain very well but the water pressure was very good. The mattress are very very hard and breakfast was basically the same buffet for ten days. Also when we first check-in the room they gave us already had guests in it.

Having said this, I loved Beijing and the Chinese people so the hotel couldn't have been that bad. But don't expect much in terms of luxury...

Room Tip: The fourth floor. Avoid at any cost the ninth floor.

The hotel had definitely had a revamp and is now clean and both the exterior and the lobby look reasonably impressive. The fittings and fixtures (at least in our room) were OK too. As others have said the location is pretty good - just four stops from Tien An Men on the metro.
However it advertises itself as a business hotel and it just does not make the grade at this level.
We only found one person in the entire staff who spoke any English at all and this was not in the business centre where we could only get internet access by borrowing another staff member's personal PC as all the hotel servers were down.
The breakfast is only Chineses style and staff were unable (and unwilling) even to produce a coffee without sugar as the "strandard" is sweet in a jug.
They claim to have wifi but this is only if you lurk near the restaurant door and the wifi goes when the restaurant closes at nine
I cant say that it is a "bad hotel" but it is not fulfilling its claim to be an international business hotel and we felt it was not value for money

This hotel is in a nice part of town and is reasonably priced but just doesn't quite cut it. It's a 15 minute drive to the Forbidden City which is pretty convenient but I was there because it is across the street from the corporate office. I've been there a few times and it was a bit run down and needed paint and new carpet. They've remodeled the old breakfast room into a small restaurant and I was the first guest in a recently remodeled room. New carpet was installed and the room was clean. The problem is though it's still the old plumbing which doesn't allow the floor shower to drain and you are hurrying to finish your shower before the water rises above the short footing which separates the shower from the rest of the bathroom. They've installed nice colorful thermostats which are supposed to control the room temperature but doesn't. I couldn't get the room temperature below 29c. I opened the window and dealt with the noise and the maid kept closing it. By the time I returned to the room at night it was back up to 29 or 30c and took hours to get to a comfortable level. Breakfast was lukewarm and marginal at best. Although it is reasonably priced I've just got to talk to the boss about somewhere else. I'll pass.

What was once a reliable and affordable business hotel appears to be fading fast in 2012. On my last visit reception staff showed little enthusiasm while bedroom fixtures and fittings were showing signs of age - rusting shower curtain rail, soap dispenser box hanging precariously and, worse of all, an utterly destroyed mattress - sagging to a depth of about 2 inches on the left side.

I expect a re-fit is due sometime soon - but it's a year or two overdue now.

At approximately RMB 500 a night it now represents poor value compared to cheaper and better-maintained business chains like Jin Jiang.
