We spent several nights here with friends as part of an organised 6 day itinery and prelude to a cruise around South East Asia. Our first stop was Bejing and this was interspersed with a visit to Xian on the overnight train (to see the Terracotta Army which was fantastic!) The staff were helpful enough considering the language barrier but the best thing was by far the breakfast! This was great with fantastic Eurasian mix enabling everyone to try a little but still have the usual stuff if you weren't in the mood.
The rooms were clean, tidy and big enough for a short stay. There was also a cosy Bar in the hotel although I believe it was usual tourist prices!
The hotel was minutes away from the well known Street Market offering fried scorpions and Dog Pot!? We didn't partake but it was definitely the best market I've ever been to! The hotel was also perfectly based for Tiannamen square, forbidden city, Summer Palace, Great Wall and many more.

Room tip: 3 couples with different rooms and no complaints!

My view of the Jade Garden is slightly coloured by the fact that our stay there was sandwiched between two five star hotels (the Langham Yangtzee in Shanghai and the Opposite House in Beijing). As others have said, this hotel is all about the location. The Forbidden City is two blocks away and Tiananmen Square is 10-15 minutes walk. We arrived in the afternoon and strolled down to Tianamen just before dusk and happened on the marching and flag lowering ceremony. It was quite extraordinary. It’s also surrounded by hutongs and walking the streets gives you a sense of old Beijing. We had an executive room and it was fine apart from the bathroom which was open to the rest of the room apart from a fine curtain. The toilet was behind a glass door with a frosted panel in the middle and as people who prefer privacy for some of their toilet activities, this was not comfortable. We found the staff quite variable. Some were incredibly helpful, others would leave you standing at the counter without acknowledging your presence while they finished other activities. Similarly, some had fabulous English while we struggled to make ourselves understood with others. The in house breakfast was acceptable for the price range but suffered the usual issues of stale bread and pastry and a fruit selection consisting of melons, melons and melons. I gave up trying to use the in room cable internet and relied on the wireless offered in the lobby.

I can't believe I never wrote a review for this place. We stayed in April 2010 and paid for one of the executive suites since it was the same price as the cheap rooms in the National Chain Hotels. We were rewarded for our decision. The room was gorgeous and very comfortable. I'd go back to Beijing just to stay there again.

They provided a computer, but I brought my own (bring your own ethernet cable). I just hooked it up and surfed (Tip: download a VPN before leaving home so you can get around the Great Firewall of China). They also have free wifi in the lobby.

The restaurant had a nice breakfast buffet that we ate each morning and the staff was pleasant.

Jade Garden Hotel is designed with a lot of authentic Chinese character. The neatest part about the hotel is the wall of the hotel's history. Great location as well - close to the forbidden city, the famous night food market and the major modern shopping area. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms cleans. The restaurant had a skylight which was a wonderful place to eat and get your day started. Breakfast food had flavor, variety and was tasty. The spa is cheap (if paying by USD or EUROs or Pounds), their is also another spa a few doors down which is just as cheap but elegant and clean and is open until midnight. Skip the hotel bar and go explore Beijing with the locales. Overall great value for the hotel and service. Staff was very friendly.

We stayed here for 5 nights in Sept. The room was quiet, clean, and comfortable. There is internet access available via the TV. The staff spoke English and were pleasant and helpful. The hotel is within walking distance of Tiananmen Square, and the Forbidden City. It is close to Wanfujing Street where there are many shops and restaurants. We particularly liked the choice of restaurants in The Oriental Plaza Mall. It takes around 15 minutes to walk to the nearest subway station which connects to all the tourist attractions in Beijing.
