We stumbled across this restaurant on our final night in Beijing. We had no idea about it but saw from across the street that it looked popular. There were 6 of us and we did have to wait but every dish we had was very tasty and the Peking duck is as good as everyone says. It is also fun to see it carved at your table. Having someone who can speak a little Chinese is useful. The pricing was reasonable too!

I was drawn here by the reviews of "best Peking Duck".
The duck was good, indeed, no complaints, and a nice place, with attentive staff and welcoming for foreigners.

But I can't believe that the duck would be considered the best in Beijing. I found them on the dryer side, and smaller. Not reaching the level of taste I found in other places and, of all places, in Shanghai.
In fact, the next day I had a business lunch in the industrial center near the airport - I found the duck there much tastier.

The duck here is amazing and they have a decent wine selection. Keep in mind the language barrier. To be seated, hold up the number of people in your party on your fingers and get a card with a number. There's definitely gonna be a wait and if you order the duck, it takes 1hr to cook (but worth the wait).

Our guide suggested this restaurant as she said the duck was great, not over-priced or too fatty. She said that mainly locals go there but some tourists are discovering it. She helped us order ( menu in Chinese bur with pictures)and then left us to enjoy lunch. We ordered a half duck, pancakes, and two vegetable dishes. The duck is carved at the table - great theatre- and staff show you how to roll the pancakes. Later a duck soup is bought to the table. The duck was great as was the cauliflower dish. All very reasonable price-wise and efficient service. Highly recommended.

We went here expecting to eat only duck, but ended up ordering way too much food - and loving it!

We ordered the marinate (or pickled?) mushrooms, the shredded lamb with vanilla, snow peas, beef and black sauce with rice and of course - the duck, with pancakes and sauces. It was all delicious. The lamb is not to be missed though. It was amazing!!

When arriving, check in the the maître'd. He'll give you a card with a number on it, noting your order to receive a table. Sit back, relax, listen to the birds, and eat the snacks they've put out.

Menus are available in English, and there are pictures of most dishes in it, so ordering was pretty straight forward. The servers enter your order right into a handheld device they all carry, sending our order directly to the kitchen. The food started coming it in minutes.

A tray of strawberries under a tray of dried ice was brought out as a starter. The strawberries were delicious. We accidentally got a second plate of strawberries, which made us very happy!
