We have stayed at this hotel twice for a couple of weeks at a time and found it extremely good, Feels more like a traditional hotel rather than modern traveller one. This is the charm Some chain hotels you can find anywhere and are so "modern" you could be in any country! Found the rooms to be clean and comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful .Excelland choices at breakfast caterer fall all nationalities and chefs very helpful. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.Food ,service and location all great.

I was booked into this hotel by my agent in Beijing. This is not a Western standard hotel. The room rate was reasonable, and in theory it should be a comfortable stay. The rooms are very shabby, especially the carpets and bathrooms. The carpet in the room was filthy and the shower in the bath hit the back wall and flowed all over the floor. The communal hall area carpets are disgusting for a hotel of this quality.

I had fleas in my room on the carpet, so had to call housekeeping to fumigate the room - that was an interesting exercise in terms of communication, but eventually we got there

On the positive side, it is well located and the breakfast selection was good. The staff are friendly and try their best. I would definitely not stay here again.

Nothing special in this hotel attracted me. It is not a modern or well-furnished hotel. The hospitality level of staff and reception is nothing to mention. I didn't like the design of hotel, restaurants and food options.

I've reviewed this hotel on previous trips, just updating really.

Stayed March 2013 for four nights.

Bathrooms very good. Internet was very poor on WiFi, many dropouts. Cable connection reliable but slow. OK for checking email and light browsing.

Carpet in room awful, staff either not vacuumed or need a new vacuum cleaner, at first it looked OK, closer look revealed a LOT of hair all over the floor. The room/s need a GOOD vacuum with brush attachment and preferably steam clean after. (Rest of room, including bed is clean).

The breakfast at Zhaolong is excellent and the decor is nice. Stayed at Beijing Jianguo instead on last visit mostly due to internet and carpet issues. (See my review).

Rooms very quiet and bed is hard but comfortable (as per most asian hotels).

Check-in / Checkout is slow.

Apparently they are renovating floor by floor, be interesting to see end result.
Location slightly less interesting area than the Beijing Jianguo but still good. Staff not as friendly or attentive at Zhaolong.

Almost a toss up between this and the Jianguo. I would say rooms and food options here are better, but location, internet and floor cleanliness a let down. The Zhaolong is slightly cheaper.

Room Tip: Upper level rooms seem nicer.

Certainly the hotels location is a very favourite one near the main embassy district and just a few steps away from the next subway station (line 10). The rooms have an adeqaute sizes and conveninet bathrooms with bath tubes and walk-in shower. Everything is kept nice and clean despite the usual traces of mold on the sealings. The rooms seem not have been refurbished since the opening some 30 years ago and are left in a rather old-fashioned style. The bed is comfortable and big. At lest in width (2m) providing enough space for two, although its length might be a little tricky for taller persons.
I arrived in the eveing and the reception was staffed with two persons, both busy with work. None of the two welcomed me as both have been looking down at their work, clearly indicating that I please shall choose the collegue for check-in procedure. After my selection, the reception was friendly and helpful, though.
Overall not an exciting place, just ok, but it comes at too high a price.

I often stay at the Zhaolong as it is significantly lower cost than the western brand 5 star hotels. It just about cuts the mustard, mainly because of its location.

There isn't a whole lot of English spoken (and why should there be, you might reasonably ask), so don't have a complicated problem if you can help it. The staff are nice and very helpful once they understand your request. The rooms are OK and you have everything one would expect.

Overall, it's a little tired, but for a short, business stay it's ideal. When I bring my wife, I'll stay elsewhere.

Stayed here for three nights over Christmas. Nice size hotel, contrary to other reviews I had some problems communicating with the staff due to the challenge of the English language. The shower drain was blocking up and when i mentioned this, house keeping came up with a razor?! but they did fix it promptly. The room was dark, dirty carpets and evidence of mold in the shower cubicle and could not get the room to warm up, it was minus 12deg C outside and got to about 8deg in the room, until they switched my room. The onsite breakfast is good, but look out for stale bread and dried up edges of the cheese. Though they advertise sauna and gym, you have to pay for the sauna ($15) and the gym is across the parking lot. Generally it was average - okay for a short stay. The location makes up for the quality - The staff could also do with a lesson in Please and Thank you's.

Room Tip: Get a view of the #3 ring road - some rooms just face other buildings.
