Great location, within easy walking distance of Sanlitun entertainment district and a nearby subway station. The station provides easy access to many of the cities tourist attractions.

The rooms are clean and reasonably well maintained but the hotel is in desperate need of a BIG makeover.

This is a locally owned and managed hotel so don’t expect much in the way of service and be prepared for limited English language skills – this requires patience!

If you are on a budget, intend on staying for just a couple of nights and need a great location, I would still highly recommend the hotel.

Stayed at the Zhaolong for a three day weekend in Beijing because of good price through Expedia. I wouldn't call it amazingly luxurious, but it was neat, professional, and convenient. The location was great, on a busy street but with an easy walk to a number of restaurants and shopping mall. The front desk staff were very courteous and professional. The check in and check out processes were quick and efficient. Our room key stopped working at one point and the front desk took care of it quickly with no fuss. We asked for help several times at the front desk and questions were all answered well.

Our room was spacious and clean and quiet and had all the amenities we needed. Internet access is free ethernet cable in the room, but it was fast and worked well. We especially appreciated the electric teapot and tea cups. Shower was strong and hot. Beds were typically hard but very clean and comfortable. Had to put the room key in a slot to use the lights and A/C, not a problem. The A/C worked very well and we were always comfortable. The TV was a large flat screen and also worked fine. The small minibar was a nice touch. The snack items were all at a good price - we are used to much higher prices in American hotels!

We used the convenience store on the lower level frequently to stock up on drinks and snacks. Chinese throat drops were recommended for my cold & cough, and they helped tremendously. Very pleasant, decent prices relative to what we are used to.

We ate at the breakfast buffet one day. There were many food options both western and asian, and an omelet bar. I think it worked out to about $15/head USD, which is more than we'd usually expected in China, but not out of line for an American hotel. Service was excellent there and the food was all fresh and hot.

Concierge helped us line up a reputable English-speaking tour to the Great Wall (Mutianyu). Taxis were extremely difficult to hail while we were there and the valets provided some assistance, though it didn't seem to be easy for them either. We checked our luggage the last day because our flight wasn't until the evening, and that worked out well too.

Good location, very close to subway station and San Li Tun area. But the hotel is old. My room is facing street, so it is a little bit noisy in the nignt. The shampoo and bath gel provided by hotel are terrible, don't use them. Hotel services are quiet ok, however it is really hard to get a taxi if you are not going to airport. Breakfast is ok, but a cup of coffee cost me 48yuan. Well, keep in mind next time, go out of the door and turn left, there's a Starbucks. All of that, it is just like a 4 stars hotel, not 5 stars.

The location and the furniture / infrastructure are the only good thing abut this hotel.
I called them to make a reservation by phone, and 3 times they gave incorrect information.
The woman at the reception was totally rude.
And I forget a pair of glasses, yes drinking water glasses, and when I called, they answer they had not found them...
I totally recommend NOT to stay in this hotel.

I stayed here for just one evening on business but would certainly use this hotel again when I'm back in Beijing. Check in was the ususal slow and methodical affair, but that's China and there's no hurrying them.
The room was very nice, plenty of space and with a good sized clean bathroom. There was free wifi, but it was only available in the lobby, hard wired internet access in the rooms. There was a nice lobby bar area.
There are a few bars directly across the street from the hotel and it was nice to sit out on a pleasant evening and enjoy a few beers and a game of dice. If you haven't played the Chinese dice glame, get the bar staff to show you, it's great fun.

Back to the hotel, we had dinner in the Indian restaurant inside the hotel, whilst the food was good, the waiter made several menu suggestions, most of which we followed but we were staggered at the amount on the bill, it was waaaay too expensive for China. I paid the bill without quibble, but I simply won't eat there again, I detest that type of sharp practice.

But I can recommend the hotel overall whther for business or holiday in Beijing.

We stayed here for 3 nights. It is very fancy hotel which we were delighted with as we were on a budget. The rooms are beautiful and staff very helpful. What I loved about this hotel is that there are lots of little eateries nearby and the really popular bar district just down the road. There is also a very famous duck restaurant 5 minutes away. I forget the name of it but the hotel people will know as it is the most popular duck restaurant in Beijing. It is also close to the metro line which is great for traveling to the great wall or into town. The train only costs a few cents and is a great experience to take public transport and see real china.

I agree with previous comment re the pool it is just small etc but we did not mind- it is just an indoor pool.

Room Tip: We bought off agoda.com so got a great deal.

Me and my friend stayed in this hotel for 11 nights in May 2011 and it was great. Rooms are roomy and clean, bathroom is very nice. Housekeeping cleans your room twice a day if you mess it up. Swimming pool is a bit strange, maybe that is how it is in china. In the nearby area there are a lot of nice little restaurants en places to have a drink. I would definitely go to the same hotel when staying in Beijijng.
