The lobby suggest a nice hotel, but the rooms and services lets you down.
Dirty carpet in room, dirty drapes and pillows, stained and smelly bathroom, pricy and boring breakfast buffet (I recommend Starbucks or Costa Coffee next door). The advertised gym was closed, and they charge 90 RMB for access to a smelly and cold sauna.
Staff doesn't speak much English. Maid knocked on door at 7.15 am Sunday morning for laundry (?) and there are lots of noise from hallway. Internet is for free, but very very slow!
Good points are location, nice open air mall across the street.

I recently stayed at the Zhaolong hotel. Perhaps in the past it was a 5 star hotel, but those days are gone. It needs some care and attention to bring it back to that standard.

There are many positives; the hotel is in a great location, there are many great restaurants close by, the staff are friendly and helpful, the breakfast has a great choice.

Some negatives, the swimming pool and changing rooms are below standard. It just needs a good cleaning. The hotel rooms are fine, but like the rest of the hotel just a little tired.

Overall, I'd stay again, but there are probably more modern hotels in Beijing in this price range.

Zhaolong used to belong to Beijing's most reputable hotels and it still holds five stars even though there is not too much left of the glory. Rooms are okay with great views but my bathroom was a bit smelly. There's free internet in the room with a LAN connection. A great plus is the convenient location: stepping out of the hotel it is a one-minute walk to subway line 10 Tuanjiehu station.

My husband traveled on business and we, my son and I, got to tag along. We stayed 9 nights in the hotel. His company's China subsidiary uses this hotel exclusively.

PROS: Beautiful decor, quiet, and convenient to upscale and discount shopping, nightlife and restaurants. Reception and concierge speak adequate English. Service was immediate. Western/Chinese buffet breakfast was pricey but delicious and beautifully presented. Located right by subway (line #10). Room comes with an appliance to boil hot water and tea service (very handy).

CONS: Room was small and stuffy, drains emitted a sewage odor, mold in shower, daily housekeeping was less than adequate and unable to communicate in English. Service in the bar area was sub-par (but was terrific everywhere else).

We requested a fan on check -in based on a friend's advice, covered the shower and floor drain in the room to eliminate the smell (we could have requested a room change but the hotel was fully booked). The beds were made everyday but the tea service (which we used everyday) was not.

Like any other hotel items in the mini-bar, drinks in the lounge, items purchased at the convenience store in the lobby were way overpriced. But there is a store in the basement of the Pacific Century Plaza right next door and another grocery by the Yashow Clothing Market, 4 blocks away, where the locals go.

We are coffee drinkers and there is a Starbucks and the Chinese version "Costa" coffee right next door (although we would have preferred a coffee maker in the room like you find in US hotels).

Overall a nice cozy hotel in a great location at a pretty good price.

The Zhaolong Hotel is a decent place to stay when in Beijing.

The rooms, particularly the bathrooms look a bit worn, but are
otherwise comfortable and functional.

The hotel is conveniently located on the Sanyuanqiao (3rd Ring Road)
on the East Side of the City. There is an adjacent Beijing Metro station
making it easy to go to other parts of the city. There is a small shopping
mall next door with a supermarket in the basement. It is perhaps a 5
minute walk to the Sanlitan Bar Street and adjacent shopping district
with more restaurants, bars and lots of shopping.

It is real easy to get to the hotel from the airport. Just take the Airport
Express Train to Sanyuanqiao, Change to Line 10 and go to the
Tuanjiehu station, use Exit D ... Hotel is around the corner from the
train station.

The staff is helpful and generally able to communicate decently
in English.

The breakfast buffet is quite good with a mix of Western, Japanese
and Chinese favorites and priced reasonably. For corporate traveler's
... ask at check-in if you can add the breakfast charge to you're room.
For some companies, you get a significant discount if you have
breakfast each day and have it included with your room charge.

Internet in the rooms is good. No problem with E-mail or using VOIP
applications like Skype ... It's wired Internet ... no Wireless.

I have stayed here multiple times when in Beijing for business.

My only real complaint about the hotel is the Air Conditioning. They
seem to turn it off or down at night leaving your room a bit stuffy. It
does affect my sleep to some extent because I like to sleep in a cool
room. Surprisingly, even in the Winter, this becomes an issue. I
stayed in January and resorted to opening the window a bit
to cool the room down ... otherwise it was too warm for my comfort.

While there is no fitness center in the Hotel, Guests are permitted free
of charge us of the adjacent Nirvana Fitness Club. The fitness club is
approx 50 meters from the hotel and has excellent facilities, much better
than your typical hotel fitness center ... and at the same time ... you get to
work out with the locals.

This hotel is definitely Chinese. It's pretty nice, though not like the Ritz-Carlton. Just a pretty decent room. The service was excellent and we found plenty of English-speaking staff. This hotel has been perfectly adequate. I think we probably could have found a better hotel for the money, but if you get a decent deal, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here. The location is pretty good and the breakfast buffet is great for the less-than-adventurous eater who is content with bacon, eggs, toast, cereal, etc.

My partner and I stayed at the Zhaolong for 5 days during winter. The room was lovely for a 5 star hotel. No complaints - the room and bathrooms weren't the biggest but can't complaint because we weren't paying for a luxury suite.

There is a shopping centre pretty much next door with restaurants and there is a famous Peking Duck restaurant across the road along with the underground sub. Taxis are relatively cheap as well.

The only short coming is the price of getting your laundry down and room service. One night we ordered beef noddles from the kitchen and from memory it was somewhere around 130RMB for a pot & it tasted like two minute noddles.

Definitely go around the corner & across the road to eat!
