“Charming and relaxing hotel in beijing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 28, 2013

I stayed at the hotel for 7 weeks on a business trip. I travel all over the world and have to admit the staff here are the most courteous, attentive, and warm I have ever experienced. It had a soothing environment and I felt completely at home. The food was great and the room was lovely. I made friends with Summer, Adam Zhang, Sky and Angie (to name a few). The gym, sauna and pool are amazing. I would not stay anywhere else if I visit Beijing again!

Room Tip: The studio is a large open space and feels like a home away from home!

I just got back from a conference at this hotel last week. I have been to Beijing many times and this was the best experience I have had to date. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was amazing. The rooms were clean and relaxing. Pool is stunning. Having the Indigo mall next door was helpful. Being close to the 798 art district was great. Highly recommend this hotel for business travel. Only issues were kinks in the new elevator system, distance from downtown and lack of door on the bathroom inside the room (no privacy if sharing a room).

Room Tip: Try to get a corner suite with the windows.

In the last fifteen years I had chance to stay in perhaps more than fifty different hotels in the chinese capital and I have to say that this the best one I have found so far.

East Beijing has everything It could satisfy my tastes: contemporary design, attentive and proactive, staff, paper-less check-in, simple and neat rooms with comfy beds and walk-in showers.

Rooms smell good (not by default in chinese hotels) and normally have pretty large bright window with an electric activated curtain. The rooms on the facade side face Jiangtaixiang and the most of the southern area of Chaoyang District. While the rooms on the opposite side face most of the eastern Chaoyang, the eastern 5th ring road and the eastern end of Beijing city.

Rooms make up service is impressively fast although accurate.

In some rooms there is an iPod docking station and an iPod Touch itself pre-loaded with news, weather and other useful apps.

All rooms also have a generous sized lcd tv with direct PC S-Video / RCA audio connections. Nice touch is the wall mounted USB charger.

Restaurants are clean with very good choice of buffet or a la carte menu. Outdoor seating is available.

On the 2nd floor, adjacent to the restaurant there is a bar lounge with nice meeting rooms and few very comfortable working cubicles equipped with printers and Lan connection.

Other amenities does include a well equipped gym, dry and wet sauna, Jacuzzi and indoor heated swimming pool.

The hotel is directly connected with Indigo mall that offer plenty of shops and food outlets.

Location wise the hotel is in the eastern part of Chaoyang District, so convenient if you have business in the area or if you wish to visit the nearby Art District. With no traffic (night or national holidays) you can reach the Beijing International Airport from the hotel in less than thirty minutes.

Minus? Yes, it is the surrounding area. If you want to have a walk in the evening after the mall is closed you won't find anything really interesting around. Things will change when the station of line 14 of the subway will be completed. The station is currently under construction at it is at two minutes walk from the hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the back side of the hotel are quieter. Corner rooms have bigger L-shape windows this m...

Stayed there at customer request. Location was good for my meetings, but nasty if u need a cab on a lovely day. Minimalist room with sleek design, and comfy bed. Loved the spaces to lounge and work in the hotel. Solid mall and good f&b options in the adjacent mall. Would stay here again even if not having meetings in the vicinity. Well done.

The hotel and room itself was amazingly modern....but it feels so cold and bland..ordered Hainanes Chix rice from room svc..and it arrived in paper bag..plastic containers and plastic cutleries....as if they ordered a take out and delivered to our room...with a hotel price ofcourse...the taste itself was very disappointing as well..it taste like frozen food being reheated...dry and hard...totally disappointed with room svc...however..just next door is the Indigo Mall...i suggest you eat there...guarante better taste and appearance..

Just like East in Hong Kong this is a very modern minimalist hotel. Dont expect comfy lounges in the lobby, instead there are hard cubes and benches, and a modern sculpture which is comprised of a pile of bricks....Check in is paperless, the room doors have no external handles making the them seem like secret doors in the corridor walls. My room (they told me I was upgraded) was huge with the feature being a freestanding bath in a glass corner looking out from the 15th floor. The design and finishes are suoerb. It is a Swire Group property, and so the flight crews from Cathay stay here. it is connected to a large shopping mall and office complex (where fortunatley my business was) but otherwise seems a bit distant from the centre of Beijing, but it is handy for the airport. Possibly not the best location if you are a tourist. However if the location works for you it is a very slick hotel.

Room Tip: try and get a corner room on a high floor.

From time to time I work in Beijing. Our office is situated in a business park nearby the hotel so it is real convenient as it has a morning shuttle bus that stops at work.

The rooms at EAST are spaceous and well equipped with fridge, kettle assorted teas, coffee and coffemaker e.g. There are also assorted cables, USB outlets to charge your iPhone without a converter and a speaker docking unit including an iPod with hotel info and other services integrated. The hotel has a great gym an pool area including instructors and morning training classes.

My company rate is 600 RMB so real affordable luxury including a great breakfast with lots to choose from in terms of Asian and European styled foods. Pricing for laundry and drinks are higher (for China) and very much on a northern European level.

Initially dubbed a "bad" neighbourhood in terms of old buildings and industrial properties the Chaoyang district is now cleaning up and the East Beijing hotel is the perfect symbol of this.

The hotel is situated in conjunction to a big mall that includes loads of brand shops, a basement grocery store and several real good restaurants. In 2014 the Beijing Subway will open a new station by the hotel.

Room Tip: Park view is better than facing the road. Although park in this case means a future park as you can...
