My first trip to China was incredible, though we were not able to go to some locations due to the 70th anniversary of The Republic of China. Our guides were fantastic, making necessary changes due to the anniversary. From the pick-up from the airport to the dropoffs/pick-ups at the various train stations and airports. Each of our guides had great personalities and in-depth knowledge of the areas we visited. The drivers were safe and courteous, navigating the chaos that are Chinese cities with ease and confidence. Thank you to all of our guides and drivers!!!

Hello Jessbi83,

Thank you so much for the kind words.

You're a brave traveler taking on China during the golden week! Kudos! Although it might have been inconvenient at times, you experienced a side of China few travelers see.

We're so excited to hear that your guides and drivers came through to bring you an amazing trip through such a hectic time. We will pass your kind words along to them.

Thanks again,

The WildChina team

We just arrived back from our second Wild China trip. Once again, every aspect of the trip was beautifully planned and executed. Our guide, Megan, was spectacular. Her knowledge of every place we visited was extensive. Her insight, along with her positive attitude and sense of humor and adventure, made the trip very special. Our drivers, Mr. Young and Mr. Ma, were excellent as well! We have traveled in China a fair bit over the past 25 years and can say that this was our favorite trip so far. The itinerary created by Wild China provided us with a wonderful scope of the culture, cuisine, and natural beauty of Gansu Province.

Hi SKWLovesTravel!

We're delighted that you joined us for a second go around and that you had such a remarkable time in Gansu with Megan, Mr. Young, and Mr. Ma!

Hearing that your trip was so memorable, even after traveling throughout China over the course of 25 years, gives us the fuel to continue to do what we do.

All the best,

My wife and I took a two week vacation to Hong Kong, Chengdu, Lijiang, Xi'an, and Beijing with Wild China. I could not be happier with the experience from start to finish. At the outset we had only a very basic idea of a few places we were interested in visiting, but our travel planner, Shiming Zuo, did an outstanding job of finding out about our interests and planning an appropriate itinerary. The entire process was quite seamless from contacting the company for an initial itinerary and estimate through planning and execution of the trip. As other reviewers have noted, the price is relatively high, about $1000 USD per day, but for us that included hotel, all domestic (within China) flights, breakfast, entrance fees for all attractions, a local guide, and car and driver. To me this was entirely worth the price as there is no way I could have planned this trip on my own. My wife and I are experienced travelers and have visited many countries where we don't speak the language. But the language (and culture) barrier for an English speaker visiting China is somewhat higher than traveling in countries where they speak Romance languages, and I think having someone with local knowledge plan the trip led to a far richer experience than we could have managed on our own.

All of the hotels that Wild China booked for us were outstanding, and the guides were great. My wife and I are vegan and were pretty worried about our ability to find decent food, but our guides were very helpful at identifying appropriate restaurants and checking with restaurant staff to make sure the dishes we ordered were vegan. Of our guides, Alan Hui in Hong Kong, Alice Huang in Chengdu and Shelly Zhang in Lijiang were particularly wonderful, and I would highly recommend them. Shelly in particular was the perfect combination of knowledgable, fun, flexible, kind, interesting, and accommodating. We were truly sad to say goodbye to her at the airport, and I suspect my wife is already thinking about making another trip to Yunnan province to visit her again!

Overall, I strongly recommend Wild China for both experienced and inexperienced travelers looking for a top of the line experience in China.

Hi Rallanah,

Thank you so much for writing such a kind review. It makes our day when we hear that the entire process, from planning to the departure flight, went smoothly.

Shiming, Alan, Alice, and Shelly are all pros at making any request look easy and we're delighted they orchestrated an authentic journey tailored to you. We hope you found some new favorite dishes along the way!
And we love your story about Shelly...it's a bit of a tearjerker. It's beautiful when guides and guests transcend into dear friends - we hope you both continue to stay in touch and reunite!

We wish you all the best,

The WildChina Team

We traveled in May on a culinary tour with Wild China led by cookbook author, Fuchsia Dunlop. This was an amazing tour. Wild China had every detail well covered allowing us the opportunity to see some amazing highlights of China.

Local guides were very good, BUT the real joy of this trip was learning about and experiencing the delicious, authentic Chinese cuisine with Fuchsia Dunlop. We LOVED this experience and highly recommend it to others. The only requirements are to go with a sense of adventure and an open palate. You will find each dish exquisite with Fuchsia indispensable as she orders and explains each dish.

Our only hiccup in the trip was a change in one of the hotels from the itinerary. We were not informed of this change. The hotel while quite adequate did not meet the standards of the others. This likely could not be prevented, but was a bit of a let down. However other unexpected cultural experiences made up for this--Chinese foot reflexology and ear cleaning for those who cared to participate as well as a side-car tour of the hutongs.

Our Wild China contact was Fann Fang. She was professional and patient to answer via email our many questions in preparation for this trip.

This trip of a lifetime opened our minds to a completely different and amazing culture. We learned so much and loved every minute of this great trip with our wonderful group of eleven strangers who parted as friends.

Hi Pam!

All of us at WildChina truly enjoyed reading this - thank you for taking the time to write this incredibly kind review.

We're overjoyed to hear about your trip. Food is such a beautiful medium to understand a culture and forge friendships. The last bit about eleven strangers who parted as friends tugs at the heartstrings. It's stories like yours that inspire us each day.

As much as we strive for perfection, some of the nuances, unfortunately, fall out of our control. It is great to hear that the wilder side of China (and your sense of adventure) overwrote some of the hiccups and left you with fond memories of your journey.

Hearing "trip of a lifetime" is so rewarding as we strive to create life-changing experiences in everything we do. This is the highest praise we could ever hope to receive. Thank you so much.

Sincerely,

The WIldChina Team
