We traveled in May on a culinary tour with Wild China led by cookbook author, Fuchsia Dunlop. This was an amazing tour. Wild China had every detail well covered allowing us the opportunity to see some amazing highlights of China.

Local guides were very good, BUT the real joy of this trip was learning about and experiencing the delicious, authentic Chinese cuisine with Fuchsia Dunlop. We LOVED this experience and highly recommend it to others. The only requirements are to go with a sense of adventure and an open palate. You will find each dish exquisite with Fuchsia indispensable as she orders and explains each dish.

Our only hiccup in the trip was a change in one of the hotels from the itinerary. We were not informed of this change. The hotel while quite adequate did not meet the standards of the others. This likely could not be prevented, but was a bit of a let down. However other unexpected cultural experiences made up for this--Chinese foot reflexology and ear cleaning for those who cared to participate as well as a side-car tour of the hutongs.

Our Wild China contact was Fann Fang. She was professional and patient to answer via email our many questions in preparation for this trip.

This trip of a lifetime opened our minds to a completely different and amazing culture. We learned so much and loved every minute of this great trip with our wonderful group of eleven strangers who parted as friends.

Hi Pam!

All of us at WildChina truly enjoyed reading this - thank you for taking the time to write this incredibly kind review.

We're overjoyed to hear about your trip. Food is such a beautiful medium to understand a culture and forge friendships. The last bit about eleven strangers who parted as friends tugs at the heartstrings. It's stories like yours that inspire us each day.

As much as we strive for perfection, some of the nuances, unfortunately, fall out of our control. It is great to hear that the wilder side of China (and your sense of adventure) overwrote some of the hiccups and left you with fond memories of your journey.

Hearing "trip of a lifetime" is so rewarding as we strive to create life-changing experiences in everything we do. This is the highest praise we could ever hope to receive. Thank you so much.

Sincerely,

The WIldChina Team

I just got back from 4 weeks in China (2nd time using WildChina) and explored the remote areas of Xinjiang, Gansu, and Tibet. I don't think there's any other company that could have pulled together the permits needed and amazing itinerary that we had. Everything from the pre-planning to follow-up was perfectly executed, thanks to our Travel Designer Kendra! We'll be using WildChina again for our 2020 China trip.

Recently we had 20 days trip to Beijing, Dunhuang, Xi'an, Yunnan Province, Shanghai & Lhasa put together by Wild China. At every destination we were welcomed by a warm friendly & enthusiastic English speaking guide. The hotel accommodations were very good even in remote place like Dunhuang. The vehicle at every destination was excellent. The drivers were courteous, attentive & careful. Overall They did an outstanding job & we are extremely pleased with our trip.

WildChina did an outstanding job of navigating, what is now a difficult to travel in area of China. Once you accept the intense and obvious police scrutiny particularly in Xinjiang Province. The area has much natural beauty and many interesting historical sites.
My twin brother and I went for our 75th birthday and spent approximately 3+ weeks (March 2019) traveling bookending the trip with Beijing and Shanghai. We had both been to China several times, but not to Gansu Provience or Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
Wild China arranged our guides, drivers, accommodations and permits.
We made dumpling in Beijing; noodles in Lanzhou, and had great barbecue in Hoten.
We rode camels In Dunhuang (Minsha Sand Dunes) and in the Taklamakan Desert, and horses near the Matisi Grottoes (Sunan) Zhangye , and had a goatskin raft ride on the Yellow River in Lanzhou.
We visited many buddhist caves and grottoes, Including Matisi Grottoes (Zhangye: Mogao Grottoes (Dunhuang); Kizil 1,000 Buddha Caves (Kuqa).
Saw extroiodanry natural beauty. Kudos to Wild China.

This trip -- our second with WildChina -- took us to Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Guilin, and the Yunnan Province. At each stop, we were greeted by a friendly, informative, English speaking guide who looked after us like we were family.

With little more than a phone number, our Guangzhou guide managed to locate my wife's distant cousins and locate the homes where her grandparents lived 100 years ago -- and arranged a reunion lunch she'll never forget.

The hotels were amazing -- even in the more remote parts of Yunnan -- and the food was delicious. We enjoyed marvelous mountain hikes, visits to incredible temples, and so much more!
