After a previous excursion to X'ian arranged by Wild China, we had the confidence in their services to book a 7-day tour of Kashgar, Turpan and Dunhuang. It was a fascinating trip (travelers should be aware that tightened government security checks aimed at ethnic minorities throughout Xinjiang province are a fact of life at the moment). In Kashgar, at the livestock market and in Turpan, which has miles of vineyards, we got a sense of the unique Uighur culture and customs. In Dunhuang, which is an exceptionally well-developed tourist town, we visited the Magao Caves with their astonishing Buddhist paintings. In each place, Wild China made smooth travel arrangements and engaged local guides who spoke excellent English. Our Wild China representative responded promptly to all requests and questions during the planning phase and was in communication with our guides and with us during the trip. We would highly recommend traveling to this region in the fall, for weather and all the fresh fruits.
