We enjoyed Mutianyu so much more than Badaling for one reason - not as many people! The photos alone should tell you how deserted this portion of the wall actually is. The day we visited, the temperature was excellent (January 28) but the sky was a bit hazy. The walk is not as difficult as Badaling, however there is a HUGE hill that will absolutely take your breath away. We took the skyway up and the bobsled down. It is a must do!

The great wall is an amazing sight to see. This was the highlight of my trip to Beijing. Although it wasn't a personal bucket list item, once I got there it felt like it. Do not miss if you are in Beijing

Visited this part of wall as was advised not as busy. Was amazed at lack of people there. What a site it was amazing. Took cable car to start of walk and toboggan ride back down. Got some amazing photos. Was a long hard walk but well worth it.

It is a longer drive to get out to this section of the Great Wall, but when we were there it wasn't that crowded. Just go early enough and it is quite quiet. Because it was colder the day we went we took the cable car up and down. And we as well walked to the left from the cable car on the left (there is two). Seemed more flatter than the other side. Walked to the steep steps of the far left takes about an hour.
Not sure how the other wall sites are but this was quite nice.

not crowded at all (early December) not too cold either, caught the cable car up to the wall and walked along the wall for approximately 2 hours. Some nice markets at the bottom too.
