My last review on the Silk Market was a couple of years ago, so it was nice to re-visit and give an updated opinion!

This market was opened as a "sister" to the original Pearl Market. This is a very light bright and airy, air-conditioned market with individual small stores over 5 Floors. Yes you will get harrassed, yes, you may get ripped off (if you let them) and no the things are not "genuine" branded items. Having said all that would you like to or are you able to spend £10000 on a Hermes bag, and are you prepared to wait on the 5 years waiting list.....probably not!! In which case, paying £150 for one that is made from beautiful leather and is near as possible to an original should not be classed a "rip off"!!

Dont let the sellers give you the ones "off the shelf" tell them you want to see the "good stuff" be careful with the branding, as the GG on Gucci, can sometimes be CC!! Those are the "real fakes"!

If you have the patience and inclination the market can be a fun place to buy nice decent quality items at a reasonable price. Always go down in price by at least 75% and work your way up, and trust me, the minute you start to walk away, they will drop their price!

Have fun and do your bartering with a smile - but don't take any hassle from them!! If they try to grab you, politely tell them that you will leave if they do it again!

Last but not least, take a break, have a foot massage - for £6 it will be the best thing you do to help your tired, jet-lagged legs and feet whilst there!! Oh and go to the toilet before you go - they aren't the nicest ladies toilets - hole in the floor style!! Yuk!

Good luck getting some bargains!

New Silk Alley Market was a great experience, to see all the products and the thrill of open outcry shopping is a must do. Amazing to see all the products.

Take it for what it is. I would not go out of your way to visit these markets. The sales staff in the massive complex are very aggressive and will actually touch you as you walk by to try and get you into their little shop. As other reviewers have said the prices are highly inflated and most things look pretty poor quality.
It takes a lot of time to bargain them down to a fair price and it is not a place that you want to visit when you are time pressured.
There is very little in the way of silk here. Go for the experience and maybe buy something that you're happy to have break or fall apart in the not too distant future, and definitely don't pay their opening high price.

Poor quality items served by aggressive sales staff who simply want to know size and which one you want without being able to look. They quote 85-90% over the top as their starting point and bully you to stop wasting their time.
I saw other shoppers returning faulty items.
Beware.
