“fun market”
Reviewed December 26, 2013

This market opens every evening at 5:30 pm, right off Wanfuijing Street.... tons of loud vendors, anything you can imagine on a stick. From little scorpions and centepieds to fish, vegetables, soup ( not on a stick). Lots of locals, lots of tourists, and a great place to take pictures.

“Self Tour to Dong Hua Men Night Market”
Reviewed December 9, 2013

Take Metro Line 1 to (Wangfujing) station, walk North on Wangfujing St to Dong'An Men. The market is on the Left side of Wangfujing St and begins at the intersection with Dong'An Men.
It is a fun distraction from the temples & museums etc. Very crowded, but the vendors are not pushy like the shopping markets.
Exotic animals (snakes, lizards, scorpions etc.) on a skewer are for sale, but you will not see people eating them and I would not recommend. However, beef, chicken & lamb on a skewer are also for sale and are edible (but watch them cook it in front of you). Also souveniers are available.
Tiananmen Square is not far, don't miss the opportunity to snap a fantastic night time photo.
Also, the Oriental Plaza Mall Food court is in the basement of the Wangfujing station. It has a wide variety of eating establishments available.

“Street food not that amazing...”
Reviewed November 13, 2013

We visited the Dong Hua Men night food market. It was after eating the street food in Lijiang, Yangshuo, Guilin, Kunming,..... And that made the market of Dong Hua Men not that special.
In addition, reading the stories about the oil that they are using in those food markets which made of nothing even close to oil makes you not want to eat there. It is interesting to see the young Chinese enjoying themselves there and that is the only fun in this food market.

“A great experience - worth a visit”
Reviewed November 3, 2013

If it can be put on a stick and cooked you'll find it here. The stall holders do put on a show, shouting out what delicacies they have on offer. It was all in Chinese, so we assume that is what they were shouting. A fun experience, so much more enjoyable than the "typical" Asian markets.

Nightmarket, where your food dreams (and nightmares) come true! This was one of our most amazing experiences during our whole trip to Beijing.
