Owner description: Dozens of food stalls with screaming vendors characterize this noisy street market, which offers everything from fish and roasted meats to vegetables and noodles.

20th April 2013, temperature was 5 degree Celsius, Shaking in our inappropriate coat, could be the reason we didn't see any amazing thing within this place, The food is over priced and quality dubious, not comparable to night market in Hongkong, Bangkok or Chiang Mai, even in Hanoi old quarter. Well, at least we had something to see and taken photo of.

If you have short of time better go to other place or attraction, haven't seen this night market won't be regretted, nothing too special in it.

The food market or alley in Wangfujing is far better.

This had to be a highlight of my trip! It was so interesting to mingle with locals and tourists and see such different foods! We even sampled the deep fried spiders, scorpions, and snake, all of which were very fresh. Not one of us became sick which we thought was great as i have to admit we thought that this may have been a distinct possibility!

The Dong Hua Men Night Market is a side street to Wangfujing shopping street. Wangfujing itself is not very interesting, apart from the fact that it's a pedestrian zone and you can walk around without being disturbed by the noise and exhaust fumes of cars.

The night market is much more real China than anything else that you see around - the atmosphere with red lanterns, Chinese music, lots of small stalls selling souvenirs and all kinds of weird food. Be prepared, it's sensual overload, with all the colours, noise and smell. But apart from a few tourists who are especially amazed by all the food there is on offer (scorpions, spiders, larvae, snakes, lizards, flying bats...), the place is frequented by locals who enjoy the atmosphere of old China and the cheap food.

The place is in stark contrast to all the luxury shopping in Beijing and offers a glimpse of the other, older and more traditional China. Therefore for me an absolute must see.

The stalls sell similar foods of fried chive dumpling, meat buns, fried squid, meat sticks, fried snake, fried scorpion, vermicelli soup, caramel fruit sticks etc. We sampled a few items and nothing was tasty, in fact the chive dumpling and meat bun were tossed after one bite, only to be picked up by one of the many garbage hobos. Taxi drivers will deem whether your destination is worthy and if you are lucky enough to be granted access inside the car, expect to negotiate a set rip off fee because meters are there for decoration only. Do not get conned by the keen private taxi drivers who will rip you off and may extract your kidney too.
