Lovely walk round the park and lakes which we enjoyed with local residents and Chinese tourists. We came in from of the north entrances and walked round past families gathered with music on and some dancing under way. We also saw a gentleman enter into the obviously cold water and go for a swim...stopped for coffee in a laid back coffee shop and carried on our way again suitably refreshed. There is also a great wee street off the park with some nice little shops to browse.

If you have time and are at the Forbidden City, this is a must to do. A reasonable entry fee, space to walk around, a lot of green and blooming plants. And if you reach up to the pavillions you are rewarded with tremendous over views of Forbidden City and also the rest of Beijing !
This was one of my VOW things in Beijing.
Personaly, I like less people, but you are in the vicinity of a tourist high light and you are in China.
And we had a wonderful Qingdao beer !

There is a lot of walking adound this park and a ton of stairs to get to the very top but for 2¥ ??! It's soooo worth it!! I enjoyed Every step of the way and the top it off with a 360 view of the Forbidden City AND Bejing City. The nice stroll around is very peaceful and there are some things I learned about the city and people along the way such as the Hanging Tree. I'd recommend going on a nice sunny day and perhaps wait for the sun to set. Giving yourself a good 2hours to see the whole park!

I went there twice just to overview the Forbidden City from the top of mountain where you'll get a perfect view of the great palace. Entrance fee is fairly cheap. But other than that, there is not much to see in the park.
I'll definitely recommand this park to anyone who loves the Forbidden City as much as I do.
