Owner description: Once a summer retreat for emperors, this 290-acre park is still a retreat for the crowd-weary tourist, who can relax here or stroll around ancient pavilions, mansions, temples, bridges and huge lake, stopping occasionally at a shop or tea-house.

Enjoy walking in the footsteps of the old Chinese. be sure to have the surroundings "touch" you. the culture and art are really fantastic to look at and experience.

I went in the Fall so I missed the gorgeous colors of the flowers and the millions of lotus's and lilypads. Be prepared to climb steps... up the temples, down the bridges and practically everywhere.

Just too many people. You don't see anything except people (who look alike). Later we realised that we went on a wrong day (It was a holiday for Chinese)

Really nice park area. Especially when wether is good. Long but nice walk from boat entrance through the park. The palace in itself is a bit run down. You do not get to go into the palace (it may be that we were on the late side, due to long walk :-)

If you are considering to take the boat tour up to the palace; please note that you will not see anything on the way overthere exept a bunch of people staring at you from the zoo
