The Temple of Heaven and the massive surrounding gardens ranks at the top of my favorite places during my trip to Beijing. The park area is enormous, and can take more than a day to explore. It contains multiple temples - of which the Temple of Heaven is just one. I would recommend walking through the park to find groups of people involved in a variety of hobbies - from singing and dancing, to lessons on swordsmanship.

I loved checking out the museum-like displays here to learn about what I could see outside, but the crowds of people packed inside to see the exhibits made it unpleasant. I had to wait a while at each sign just to be able to get close enough to read. This site is beautiful and historically very important, but it wasn't as pleasant as it could have been due to the massive crowds.

Lots of local tourist, selling and peddling and oh yeah, spitting around !!!
Part of our tour package, I can just imagine the serenety of the place in an early morning but not after 8am

This temple was well worth the visit. It was located in a nice park area with shading trees. The temple was well preserved and was quite interesting to see.

This was a beautiful place and gardens to visit. It was a wet day but we still managed to enjoy the temple. It gets crowded so don't go on the weekends.
