I got upgraded for 15% add on to an executive floor. It had many free amenities: sodas from the fridge, free internet, a lounge with drinks and food in the evening, a free business center, some free laundry service, etc. The room was large, very clean, big screen TV, large bed, refrigerator, very modern bathroom with glassed in shower visible from room (privacy screen available). It is a bit on the outside of the center city (Ring Road 4) unless you have business in this area which is a pain given Beijing's terrible traffic jams. The breakfasts were all encompassing and expansive. The noise from other rooms and street were occasionally an issue.

Lovely room, but staff were confused and on the make. Got there, my booking said exec room only, which was wrong. I had to argue til blue in the face before they said it was their mistake and corrected it. Agg..
Wanted to go to Great Wall- friends said it should cost 400 Y, but the 'conciege' wanted over 800 Y!!!! I had to go and sort out my own trip in the end.
Club lounge -Breakfast- cold and stale.
Afternoon tea- coffee machine broken.
Cocktail hour- no white wine... went to get a class from the Thai restaurant .... it took 4 people to get one glass and then they asked me when I would be bringing the glass back... hahaha!!!
Location- quite far along from main drag of attractions.
OH what a moaner!!! Maybe I had a one off run of bad luck :( But bear in mind.

I spent one week at this hotel, as I attended a workshop at a nearby university.

I went for the executive room deal, and was glad for the extras (see their web site for details).
Very modern, all promises kept. I especially valued the excellent internet access, the laptop-sized safety box, the 4 items of free daily laundry service that came with the executive offer.

There is a nicely large breakfast buffet, both western and chinese (the chinese one could be improved, if all the steamed food was hot instead of barely luke warm).

The hotel is about 10 km away from Tienanmen square (i.e. 8 subway stops) . It sits right between two subway stops, each approx 1 km away. With the good subway system and cheap taxi fares, it is a good deal also for a sightseeing stay.

Have stayed at this hotel 8 times as its convenient for where I have business.
Off peak the executive floor is a very good value for $25 extra: express check-in, breakfast buffet in lounge or restaurant for 2, larger and better decorated rooms, free internet, 4 clothing items drycleaned for free, happy hour 6-8PM .

Happy hour has a very limited selection of liqour and they set up the bar with bottles
that are often almost completely empty. Also you have to always request ice. I know Chinese don't usually add ice to drinks, but this is a Holiday Inn American brand hotel.

Overall this hotel is very good value and the service is very good.

Did have a dispute last time at checkout when they said they had to bill in US
currency on a Visa credit card. After leaving hotel phoned the management
and explained to them the policies regarding (DCC) dynamic currency conversion.

Now I'm living in this hotel nearly three weeks . I feel it is a good place if your take your leisure trip. It provides good service , delicious food, nice toom, especially the convenient traffic. If you are a tourist, there are many traffic tools you can choose to get to your destination. At last, I have to mention that my friends Grace recommends me the hotel. The hotel make my tour much more colourful .Here, Thanks her a lot.
