The service was amazing, thanks to the GM Mr. Till Martin, for take an extra care of us.

I have reviewed this hotel before and stayed here a number of times. I decided to give it another shot, but I am still disappointed in this particular Grand Hyatt. I am accustomed to the Grand Hyatt service, but this hotel falls short.

The rooms are clean and not quite as spacious as other 5 stars in Beijing. The gym and pool are fantastic, as is the breakfast (make sure to order a custom squeezed juice). It is in an excellent location, adjacent to a mall, the subway station and the famous Wangfujing Street.

Where this hotel lacks, is in service. They don't seem to be happy to help you and on a number of occasions when I asked questions. Usually when you go to a Concierge desk, they are happy to help and give you suggestions. Here, it was like pulling teeth to get information. Not impressed. Not many smiles or greetings, as in the other hotels we've stayed at (JW Marriott, Raffles, St. Regis, Fairmont, China World, Ritz Carlton, Westin).

The hotel is in a great location, they have great amenities, but you may be disappointed in service. Not sure if I'll return again.

This is a very good, very pricey, Beijing establishment with a top reputation. Overall, I'd say the reputation is deserved. Service is excellent and the facilities are - for the most part - top-rate. I particularly appreciated the first class gym and pool. Equipment was plentiful and new, and the atmosphere was pleasant.

Similarly, the rooms are quite comfortable. But here and there, they slip below the standard of perfection one expects from a Grand Hyatt. For example, in my room the closet door wouldn't close completely, and thus the light in the closet remain on through the night, like a busted nightlight. Nothing I could do about it. Similarly, the room door has space between it and the floor, thereby allowing more light into the room, and pretty much rendering blackout curtains irrelevant. In a four-star hotel with lesser prices, I wouldn't bother mentioning this kind of thing. But the Grand Hyatt stands for something better, and the rooms don't meet that "better."

Finally, I was keenly disappointed in the open presence of "working girls" in the Red Moon Bar. There was no missing them, or their purpose, and that they were there - in the hotel's premier bar for guests looking to have a drink in peace with clients - with the knowledge and tacit approval of management was extremely disappointing to me. It was also embarrassing, as I had invited two female colleagues to join me there for a drink.

So shame on the Grand Hyatt for operating like a lesser, low-brow establishment. The facilities are nice, but so long as the bar is run like a take-out, I won't stoop so low as to be booked there again. Shame.

The Grand Hyatt is a mainstay of Beijing hotels. It has all the amenities of a modern 5 star hotel. Check in is fast and efficient. The room is large and clean. Yet overall the hotel, though it is definitely a good hotel, does not live up to its reputation. The decor of the rooms is mostly brown and old fashioned. The toilet is not watersaving - given the aridness of Beijing not in line with Hyatts green credentials. After midnight, despite two trials, I could not reach the hotel service for a wake-up call. The breakfast buffet is surprisingly small and the quality average. I do not care for size, but a smaller selection should either be somehow special or at least have a very high quality level. To me, it seemed to be a rather loveless affair of standards. Especially the bread selection was poor.
Funniest was actually dinner in the 'Made in China'. We were provided a wine which obviously had an unpleasant corky taste. The waiter obviously had not encountered that term before and told us that he could not smell anything bad. Then he went back to his boss and, on return, told us "My boss says the wine is ok". Only after asking to see his boss (the bottle was about 2.000 RMB) we were alowed to select another bottle. Food though was very nice at the made in China, though our neighbours also seemed to have some issue with the staff.
The bar was nice enough though nothing special.
Location is quite good.

Stayed for a week on business. Service was excellent, from check in to the business centre to room service to organizing taxis and check out. There were plenty of staff at the front desk (unlike the Sofitel where it can be chaotic). English skills by the staff was excellent. Internet is quick. Everything came together so my business trip could be about business and not worrying about being on the road. Will stay here again.

Good location, welcoming team. Good bed and bath amenities. Two restaurants for breakfast, especially I liked caffe "Made in China", - very interesting atmosphere and amazing meal. I can remember only one minus. - They upgraded our room till Junior Suite, and the kitchen was poor enough, not for 5 stars hotel.

This was our sanctuary - We had a 2BR apt which meant people could fight their jet lag as required without disturbing anyone else. The staff were all helpful and the pool was a very welcome distraction for the kids. Like many hotels in Beijing, the hotel is attached to a shopping mall - convenient for running the kids downstairs for snacks etc without having to eat in the hotel.
