I stayed here in April 2012 for business. This hotel was recommended by the people I was doing business with since it is near their office. There are pluses and minuses to this hotel. Pluses: It is conveniently located near the Olympic stadium, and there are bus stations and subway stations within a 15 minute walk from the hotel. There are several large shopping centers very close to the hotel, including a Wal-mart, so it is very convenient to buy food and bottled water or other shopping you may need to do. It is also just a short trip to the airport, and relatively near the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall (about 90 minutes to Mutianyu by car). The staff was also generally friendly and helpul, and the front desk staff spoke pretty good English--the bell boys English was not so good. Minuses: The hotel is being renovated. 3 floors and the gym are currently under construction, and the noise from the construction and the smell of paint were both quite bad during the day. I stayed on a non-renovated floor (20) and the room decor was a little dated any everything looked a little worn. There are also no non-smoking rooms, so the whole hotel and especially the rooms reek of cigarette smoke. The thermostat in my room would not lower the temperature more than 25C, no matter how low you set it. The bed is very hard, but I find that to be true in all Chinese hotels. I would recommend this hotel if the location is convenient for you, but I would not consider the rooms to be deemed "luxury."

Room Tip: Ask for one of the renovated rooms.

We take this opportunity to thank you for your kind patronage of our Hotel. Your various comments and descriptions about the location and important landmarks of places around the vicinity of our Hotel reflects your full knowledge on what it makes to become a convenient Hotel for traveller, whether on business or leisure purposes. For the services, your kind feedback particularly with our staff in the guest contact areas inspires us a lot to do more. And also, we will do our best as always to improve especially with the english communication skills of our staff. As far as the renovation is concern , these works were being done due to various comments that we received from guests to improve our facilities and as well to become more competitive with other Hotels around the area. For the non-smoking rooms, out of the 17 guest room floors that we have, half of it are non-smoking areas. However, we already highlighted your profile with remarks that says "Non Smoking Room Only" and the "Prefer Room with Soft Bed" should we get the opportunity again to be your choice of Hotel while here in Beijing in the future! As for the "Thermostat Control" in the room, such device can be made lower or high as the case maybe. We are sincerely apologizing for the inconveniences that you encountered during the course of your last stay, and looking forward to welcome you back in the Hotel and to stay at our newly renovated rooms. Again, thank you very much for your positive gesture of recommending our Hotel to others should they go in Beijing in the future!

I stayed here for 6 nights in March 2012. The decor was old and the bed and pillows a bit hard but the room was medium-sized and clean. I thought the Internet charges in the business centre were a bit expensive (60 RMB per hour). The hotel is walking distance (c. 20 min) to both the International Convention Centre and Olympic Venue.

We highly appreciated your kind support and the effort to give us feedback regarding the services and facilities of our Hotel during your stay last March 2012. For your information, we started already the refurbishments works in some guest rooms and as well in some guest contact areas to upgrade our facilities. Should we had known that you have difficulties sleeping with hard pillow and bed, we should have done something for it, as we have different kind of pillows available on request. The price of the internet at the Business Center of the Hotel is in comparison to the Hotels around the area. However, should we need to make some adjustment to become more competitive, we are more willing to oblige!

Checked into the hotel at 5am and staff were very pleasant. I was booked into the hotel by my work as the office was close and they were under the impression that the rooms had just been renovated. My room was definitely not renovated. The decor was old and worn and the air conditioning was unable o be changed from 28degrees! I asked the reception staff for assistance and a person came to my room quickly. The staff member showed me how to turn the air con off by pressing the off button? The room had no openable windows and was quite claustrapobic with the choice of either stale no air filtration or bake at 28degrees! The staff were very pleasant and the breakfast was very good compared to othe Chinese hotels I have stayed in but overall unless you need to be in this area there are much better options closer to the city centre.

We thank you so much for your kind patronage and to your prompt comments regarding our Hotel in general. We are delighted to know that our staff lived up to your expectations as the way your reservation was handled. And also, the good quality of food being served at the Breakfast Buffet in comparison to other local hotels that you've stayed before. We are apologizing for the inconveniences that you've encountered, especially the airconditioning of the room and the decor which is old and worn. However, for the type of room where the window can be opened, we have this available in the Hotel. For your information, we already have newly refurbished rooms available, and that the room given upon your arrival was the old room that we will also renovate soon! And definitely, we will make proper communication with your company regarding the updated renovation works especially in our guest rooms area of the Hotel for better understanding and satisfaction of guest needs.

I stayed at this wonderful hotel last year with my family and the experience was fantastic. The management was first-rate and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We stayed in a top-notch suite with excellent accomodations and a great view of the Bird's Nest Stadium. The next time we are going to Beijing we are definetely staying at this hotel!

Overall the hotel is nice. The lobby is impressive, with a pianist playing in the evenings. Apart from the lobby and the restaurant area the hotel gives an outmoded impression for some interior renovation is lacking, or maybe it is just its style.

The personnel try to be helpful, but the language barrier is obvious.

There are no paper *don’t disturb* signs in the room that you can put on the door, but a switch on a bedside table which turns on a small electric sign on the wall outside of the room. Personnel enter the room to close curtains for you in the evenings.

My room had a couple of nice bath robes and disposable slippers along with two respirators in a closet. The hotel provides two small water bottles in the bathroom for free so that you don’t use tap water to wash your mouth etc. They also provide bottled drinking water for purchase, but it is hugely overpriced. You can buy the same water in the nearby supermarket just across the street for much less along with other food items. The room had European electric outlets (no need for an adapter) and a kettle to boil water.

Very disappointing was a fact that they separately charged for the internet per traffic. The fee is not enormous if you just check your emails, but makes a difference if you are to use the Internet (Skype, download files) for the whole day. In addition the Internet speed noticeably slows down in the evenings, sometimes up to a point that you have to give up.

The bathroom looked old, in a very outmoded fashion, but still it was nice looking. There was a bit of mould in the corners though. You can also figure out how much your weight is since there are weighing scales in the bathroom. The toilet bowl was disturbingly wide and flat with humongous amounts of water in it, which when flushed moved rather slowly. Shower assembly was wall-mount, non-movable.

The restaurant food was great. There were items from Chinese cuisine of course, but also lots of European cuisine dishes, which is great for people on non-spicy diet and restricted diet. Lots of warm dishes, the greatest bacon I have ever tried, bakery, sausages, eggs etc. I did not see any cheese spreads though.

The hotel location is very good. Very close to the Beijing International Convention center (within walking distance) and the Beijing National Stadium (the Bird’s Nest). Unfortunately the subway line #8 (the green line with Olympic Sports Center station on it) was closed at the time I visited for some repair works. Anyway another subway station Huixinxijie Beikou is within 15 min of walk (purple line #5) which makes the hotel location very convenient. The subway single entrance is 2 Yuan.

Would stay here again because it is a decent hotel plus the language barrier might be an obstacle when trying to familiarize myself with a new hotel’s surrounding area (how to find a subway station, a bus etc).
