“Depends on the room”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 23, 2013

I would rate the hotel between Average and Very Good (i.e. just good) ...

I have been regularly staying at the Beijing International Hotel for a few months (essentially every weekend) for work; it is MUCH better than the Beijing News Plaza hotel across the street. This hotel tends to get very busy because of the Convention Center next door and numerous conferences throughout the week.

The hotel is generally clean above the 15th floor; the lower floors are much older decor and tend to have that old Beijing (everyone smoked in their room) feel. The "executive" rooms are generally double the price but significantly better than the budget rooms.

Check in / check out staff are typical Beijingers ... rude and/or lazy and/or inept ... I've personally witnessed them in verbal confrontations with guests (swearing as well) which puts you off a bit.

The hotel has a few restaurants ... the buffet is big by western standards but get packed with locals looking for all you can eat crab; the revolving restaurant on the roof is ridiculously overpriced and pretty bad ... I havnt been to any of the Chinese places at the hotel so can't comment on them.

The location is a bit odd ... its between the Jianguomen and Dongdan subway stations so be prepared to a walk to get anywhere. Taxi service is pretty good at the hotel ... max 15 min wait for a cab (typically 5-10 min) except early in the morning they are lined up waiting for the airport crowd.

The Henderson center is across the street which has a pizza hut ... underground supermarket ... macdonalds ... starbucks ... HSBC ...

Room Tip: If you want a quite room ask for the back of the hotel, the rooms on Changan Ave. have a better view...

This is a good quality hotel which is about a mile away from the action on Wangfujing street. Breakfast was very good - probably the best of the 5 hotels I stayed in during a China tour. Across the street is a big shopping mall and lots of local restaurants in the basement for a quick dinner. Top of the hotel has a revolving floor - it is a great place to hang out for a drink (expensive, of course) and enjoy a panoramic view of Beijing. I would definitely go back.

choose this hotel for business trip in beijing.the airport shuttle bus have a destination for this hotel, the only thing you have to confirm is that the bus is going to beijing train station. The outlook is not the morden type but decoration inside is fairly well.It is a little crowed in the restrant when I had breakfast.the location is near the beijing train station, and easy to catch a cab almost anytime.

Comfortable and friendly hotel. The hotel was clean and staff were very friendly and accommodating. Beds were comfortable. Internet access was mediocre. I felt safe in the area. It was 20 minute walk to Tianamin Square and the Forbidden City. There are 2 subway entrances nearby and the Railway station is a short walk away. There is also shopping across the street.

There are 4 different styles of restaurants in the hotel. The main restaurant was a high quality buffet style with foods that would satisfy most every palate. The revolving restaurant was expensive but very nice with western and Chinese selections. They view was only good one night during my 5 night stay. Smog was bad most days.

Beijing International hotel has an excellent location, easily walk-able to Tienanmen Square. It has a nice atmosphere and good rooms. There is an excellent Szechuan restaurant next door and a supermarket in the shopping mall opposite. Breakfast was fine with a good choice.

It is always a nice surprise when the hotel is better than expected. We were on the 12th floor and had a nice large room. In fact two rooms. There was a living area and the bedroom, both of more than adequate proportions. The bathroom had a shower and separate bath. The room was clean and the bed firm but comfortable. The room didn't smell of smoke which is a pleasant change.
Love the location. We have stayed in this vicinity 3 times now and enjoy having the subway within about 5 minutes walk. The walk to Wangfujing is about 15 -20 minutes.
Checkin/Checkout was smooth however the minibar security payment was a bit extreme.
Free wifi was only in the lobby.
We were a bit disappointed that there was no washing machine in the room as indicated in the listed room features online. It was one of the reasons we had selected this hotel.
Overall though we were more than happy.

This is a very nice hotel and would have had 5 rating but for the bathroom in our 12th floor room. The room overlooked the main road with very large windows and was large and comfortable. The bathroom was dated and not in character with the rest of the room or the hotel. There was a note to say that our floor was being refurbished so hopefully that includes the bathroom. Breakfast was an extensvie buffet of Chinese and European food in a pleasant dining room. The bar was pleasant and a bottle of Chinese red wine not too expensive. Bottled water was provided in room but if you needed more the cost was excessive, but there is a supermarket accross the road with sells cheap water and red wine. We only ate via room service and the quality of food was good. Hotel well situated for subway or easy walk to Tian'an Men Square

Room Tip: Ask for a high room overlooking main road at front of hotel
